building exhaust, hit snag
ok i started building my exhaust today but my original idea did not work, i cannot believe how incredibly loud it is now
so what i have is:
1. respeed 2" O.D road race header with a 2" collector at the end of it.
2. magnaflow 11225 muffler --> http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8043
3. 2" pipe over axle to a daul tip (for looks no noise supression at all)
well im really dissapointed in that damn 120$ muffler i bought, i thought that because its stainless and a magnaflow product it could handle the rotary heat well so i ordered it but it turns out even tho its an offset muffler the damn thing is straight thru and nothing more than basicly an expensive *** glass pack! **** wat a waste
so anyways with the set up this thing is ear splitting loud, actually had the cops called to my garage today while i was working on it, it shoots flames about 1.5 - 2 feet long and its ******* LOUD!
so what the heck can i do to quiet this thing down but still make it sound nice and throaty? i know i know buy racing beat exhaust....no! sorry but i wont spend 1000$ for a almost stock exhaust, and glasspacks i know will just blow out and be loud again.
so i was thinking a little bit of back pressure after the magnaflow should do the trick right? im gonna see if i cant make me some sort of little muffler to go after the magnaflow, i was thinking something with one or maybe 2 baffles across it to put some back pressure into the magnaflow, anyone have any good ideas? ive looked around at mufflers you can buy but i really dont think anything cheap will hold up to rotary heat. and ive got plenty of steel so i think its best to make one i know can handle the heat but the question is how much backpressure? what kind of baffles? how many? i want to be able to talk over the exhaust at an idle, be good sounding when going down the street, and scream when you floor it and open up the secondaries. but right now it just plain screams at an idle lol

If you can spare $100 more dollars, You can use one of the disassembled power pulse mufflers from Racing beat as a pre-silencer. They will for sure stand up to the heat make your car sound nice, you can just weld it in line

Definitely. The streetport exhaust from Racing Beat uses a presilencer in each pipe before they merge at the muffler. One muffler will never be quiet enough. Hell, two regular aftermarket mufflers are rarely quiet enough.

Yeah I definitely have to witness this....make a vid...because where I live cops really don't care about how loud a car is....so I would love to hear it because I would fab something up like this for fun just to blow someone out of the water

You do not want to add back pressure, it's a rotary, not a piston engine. You definitely need a pre-silencer and a muffler. This Borla unit will fit as a muffler but I'd prefer the Borla as a pre-silencer and the Magnaflow as the rear muffler.

If you can find Wicked Nickie's, (Nicky's) eBay store, he has the best prices I've seen.
Found it. This one will work, but the XR-1 is a better muffler for the rotaries.

still experimenting
ill put some pics up and comment away but im not done yet, i still want to pick up that borla trochoid showed me and give that a try also

I've heard Borlas on rotaries before. Very nice. However, I don't know what the rest of their system was comprised of, probably just a Racing Beat presilencer and the Borla.
