Build ideas

being the bored guy that I am, and the somewhat (resourceful) guy too, i got to thinking. a GSL SE is a great car and all, but wouldn't it benefit from getting a turbo II engine / trans swap? In my mind this seems like a superb idea. FB's have all the room in the world for a v-mount intercooler setup.... if i can find a GSL-SE for dimes (as long as it's a rolling shell it would work! i have a GSL i can rip the interior out of) i could probly' get that stabbed in there! all I would need is the gsl se oil pan and front cover, right? am I overlooking something drastic here? i know of a turbn II engine / trans combo for sale also, no idea of the running condition, though. who has words of wisdom or who is going to break my knees with a bat? :p

Ahhh yes. The ole "Got-the-car-bug-so-bad-I-can't-sleep-but-I-need-a-place-to-live-so-I-can't-dump-all-my-money-into-a-hunk-of-metal-on-the-front-lawn" syndrome. I know it well. When we bought our house the number 1 priority for me was a shower and bathroom (gotta be clean, right?) Number 2 was a garage. After that, I had no priorities. My wife didn't feel the same for some reason, so we actually live in a pretty decent house (still with a garage!) :-) But it has furniture and a kitchen and stuff like that. I think she might be on to something...

There is a really nice GSL-SE being built on the JapaneseNostalgicCar forum. If you don't know what that is, just google it. The car is in the Mazda Garage section. The guy is putting in a TII into a very stock looking 5 letter. Same color as mine, actually.

Unfortunately, having a house also means having no money and lots of projects that the wife is way more interested in getting done and putting resources into, than those which involve magical spinning triangles. Oh well. She still loves me, so there must be something to that.

I think you should do it and take lots of pictures. I like to live vicariously through other forum members..

Here I was avoiding marriage because of theological reasons and basic principle, but DF just spelled out the truth in one post. Thank you sir. Thank you.

Why they are WoW: It's will cost less money and get you behind the wheel and on the road immediately. This is a daily driver, not a garage queen or a pipe dream. PM me, if interested.

welp, tomorrow COULD be a very productive day in the ideas of me building a turbo FB! I'm going car shopping, for (you can prepare the beating sticks) some BMW's. if they don't pan out, I MIGHT go look at a MKIII turbo Supra (for less than 2k!, and its a 89 - i very much would like this car) and if I change my mind on that, there's a white GSL-SE i'm going to attempt to look at. I might just say to hell with it and buy it, put all my goodies in it, and sell my 12a FB. I love 12a's but they just don't output what I want performance wise. and the 4x110 really bothers me.

MKIII Turbo Supra is a nice car, with lots of potential. Good Luck.
