A bit of RX7 nostalgia...trivia question
I will do my best to make a scaled drawing of these (there are a right and left) and get it online in the next few days. Shouldnt be too hard to make. Its a simple box with a flange coming off at an angle.
Yep, now that Barron has told the world how to break into my car (not that they would, it's wired to self destruct when that happens) I guess I'll need a pair too.
Maybe we can get Sam at ReSpeed to crank out a run so we don't have to do the prefab.

I sent him the link earlier today to see if he was interested
seeing as my car has no windows right now and anyone can pretty much walk by and take anything they want. its pointless now...
but id definitely like to get some dimensions and instructions for these.
once i have windows again of course.

DD, The brake away mounting on the rear view allows it to wobble some. The mirror stem should have a small nub just above the mirror itself. This mounts on the nub and rests against the inside of the wind shield keeping the mirror steady. In a crash, if your noggin hits the mirror, the rubber can flex and the mirror un snaps from its mount giving you only a mild case of drain bramage.
Because they are designed to come off, many get lost. They can often be accidently disloged while cleanng the inside of the windshield or when removing the mirror. If you never noticed it was there, you'd scratch your hair off trying to figure out what is was upon finding it in your carpet.

I always wondered what the little protrusion on the back of the mirror arm was for... My car's never had one, having been 9+ yrs old when I bought her.
Great... now I NEED one...

Damn! Something else I need to fix on the mirror. Sounds easy to do with a piece of vacuum hose.
Nice to know.
I'm late to the thread, but I knew the first item right off. I guess being old has its benefits.

I cant believe Stu hasnt chimed in on this with his rail car full of NOS parts .............. I thought hes on the forum 24/7 in January in Alaska ......... Stu , you still breathing ?
The wizzard likes to stay behind the curtian, pulling levers. That, and I think he's currently on one of his annual pilgrimages.
We would probably all be surprised how many have them. Back when these cars were new, seems like everybody I knew that had an RX-7 put the plates in....I would imagine there are several on this forum that have them and didnt know what it was, or thought it was factory.....
I was going some digging through my Mazda documentation and I found the instructions to the Ani-Theft brackers. I have it scanned to PDF but can't upload it anywhere. Here is a picrure of part of the first page. The second page has a really crappy picture.
Thats cool KC. I like the name: Anti Theft Baffle. One question, why would a 12pt socket not work when installing? Normally the main advantage of a 6pt is that it's meatier and less prone to slippage.
I just re-read this post and I need to pay more attention to my spelling.
