Another low mileage SA on Ebay

Looks good in the pics but you can't really tell much without close ups...

Yea, saw this car also. Looks nice but buyer beware, the information in the ad is misleading. It's worded as if they are knowledable on 1st gens and claim that its got its "super rare" alloy wheels and metallic orange paint. Those wheel and tires ARE rare. Thats cause they are from a 79 Limited. At least the wheels are, the only US model 7 to ever get them. Those raised white letter Bridgestone's were used on both the 79 Limited and 1980 LS models. I believe they were also used on some other models through 1981.

That color appears close to Solar Gold but is not factory. (although it looks very nice in my opinion) So it's a complete color change too. Makes me immediately wonder what else is not as advertised. The mileage maybe? Definitely a car you'd want to check out in person before writting too big of a check. It does look nice but could be just a Dupont overhaul......

This is one of those cars I'd have to see in person. The pictures don't give enough details about the engine.

I don't recall seeing that hood pinstriping on any factory versions. Close-up pic of left headlight shows where wax is caught in the tape overlap, too: pretty sure factory stripes were painted on, not tape.
Those tires don't have 27,000 miles on them; tires of the period were rarely good for more than 30k or so.
Wheelwell edges & interiors look to be black, rather than body color. Rustproofing?
Tow-loop next to muffler does not look to be body color... could be lighting.
Rear tow-loop on left side is also black, where it should be body color.
Muffler is quite rusty compared to the condition of the rest of the car.
Picture with hatch open shows black paint in the hatch gutter next to the side window trim; should be body color.
Rad overflow bottle has odd, dark discoloration inside top half; not sure what would cause that.
Hard to tell, but the shift surround seems to be missing the chrome trim that was used only for the 1980 interior. Might be lighting.
No photos of VIN plaque or dash cluster. No detailed bay pictures. Almost certainly an aftermarket stereo.

It's a pretty car & the interior seems to show low wear that might be consistent with the stated miles.

Without knowing the reserve, no way of knowing if it's a good deal or not. I hate unstated reserve pricing.

I thought I'd read on a different thread that those were supposed to be black?

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain.

From the factory, my rear tow hook was black like the chassis. The front two were body color. I've always looked at rear hooks that were body color as a indication of a re spray.

I have to disagree on the tow hook color. Rear tow hook is black and front ones are both body color. Verified by
looking at my own SA.

Noted - I'll have to correct mine. Apparently so long since my car was painted that I don't remember it any other way.

How about the one over by the muffler? Also black?

It looks to me like the car has been undercoated for rustproofing purposes; the door frames also look to have the plastic plugs that are typical of the old practice of drilling holes & spraying rustproofing inside body panels, like Ziebart and other companies used to do back in the 70s/80s.

Ziebart used yellow plastic plugs in their access holes, always easy to spot. On this car they are black - - you can see two on the rear edge of the door frame.

its either that, or paintless dent repair.
