'84 Gsl Won't Idle

I recently purchased an 84, drove it home about 100 miles from where I bought it, and took it a few places around my city to get parts and stuff. Started it up the following morning without much fanfare, but since then it hasn't been able to idle.

I rebuilt the carb, tested for vacuum leaks around the throttle body, etc, but nothing seems to be helping

Any advice is appreciated!!

Did you identify any issues with the carb before building it?

Yes, there was some of the eccentrics and springs for the throttle linkages misplaced when I rebuilt it, and the seats were put in ridiculously tight. But it ran and idled really nicely for two days before I did anything to it, and it stopped working properly before I touched anything in the engine bay other than an oil change

Did you use the needle and seats from the rebuild kit?

Yes, but the carb had been rebuilt before, so the needles and seats were not original, and they were not in the best shape.

It is highly recommend by many carb experts on this forum that the non-factory and seats are not recommended. It is said that the after-market ones could be used but take a lot of burnishing to get right. I've never rebuilt a carb but trust the folks on this forum. There are a lot of threads that talk about this.

That totally makes sense, but I would think that if the needles and seats were the issue, it wouldn't run at all. It runs great, it just won't sit at an idle.

It ran and idled great for 3 days, and I didn't touch anything mechanically before it decided to not idle anymore, so I guess my real question was if anyone had any tips or tricks for that, especially in relation to all of the vacuum lines and hoses that could be affecting it.

I dont think this is the cause, but in case it helps, it had the omp disconnected when I bought it, and it has been running 1oz to 1gal rotary premix from idemitsu

Have you followed the idle procedure in the factory server manual? Foxed.ca
