84 GSL secondaries stuck?!?
84 GSL secondaries stuck?!?
Sup yall, car decided it wont rev past 4k, seems like it has no power, especially when going up hill. I’ve been messing around with things to see what it might be and found that when operating the secondaries manually they do not open all the way and I have to push quite hard to get them to open more than just a little bit. I am not sure if this is how it should be or not, and if this would be causing my issues, I will attach a video, thanks in advance for any help.

The secondaries should only be able to be opened if the primaries are opened. There is an interlock to prevent them from opening by themselves/closes the secondaries when the primaries close.
Is the trapdoor/see-saw return spring on its holder? If the primary return spring breaks, the backup return spring snaps down. When the backup return spring is in play, the throttle cannot open as far and the secondaries aren't really allowed to open.
Here's a pic I found.

The backup return spring is the coil spring on the T shaped rod. That rod must be tensioned up onto the arm that holds the primary return spring. As you can see when the primary spring is off, the T rod can slam down. The way its linkage interacts will also restrict how far the throttle can open, on purpose. They don't want you driving a broken car but they also want you to stay mobile.
