79’ 5-Speed MT Question (Brand new here)

I was hoping someone could help me out with this. I recently purchased a 79’ with a 5 speed manual trans and I can’t find anywhere online what the name of the transmission is. Any help would be appreciated.

I've never heard an official name for the transmission. SA cars (79 and 80 model years) are referred to as "smooth case" as opposed to the FB cars (81-85 model years) which were cast with more external ribbing in the cases.

Any idea if the 12a transmission will mate to a 13b-rew?

the rotary bolt pattern is the same from 74-2012, so yes.

the NA uses a different diameter flywheel/clutch (215/225mm) than the Rx8/Turbo Rx7's (235?), and that needs to change to match the transmission, while keeping the balance weight correct for the engine
