2014 To Do list for your RX7

What are your RX7 plans for 2014?

I've got mine pretty well laid out:
Interior:
Install new carpet (owned), new radio(owned), seat brackets, steering wheel (owned) and QD hub (owned)

Electrical:
Relocate battery to hatch, add disconnect switch, rewire engine compartment

Engine:
OMP blockoff (owned), basic tune up, install new radiator (owned) and hoses

Front Brakes:
New rotors, pads, wheel bearings

And if there's still enough money:
15x7 and 15x8 Diamond Racing Wheels and tires for them.

Here's Step 1 for me. The rest involves a complete frame-out restoration and is too long to list.

Pass smog again. Possibly a re-upholster I've been tooling up for. Time is my enemy.

2) replace ignition coils, spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

3) install front brake upgrade and rims

4) exhaust. Stock manifold with custom everything else to provide a legal upgrade. Details on this when i get to it...

5) smog

6) take it to the tattoo shop with me so i can finish my leg in style

7) long road trip to celebrate her resurrection.

8) start saving and scavenging engine parts for a future upgrade.

It's a long list.

1) Drive her. I've only driven her four times so far before the snow hit.
2) Repair the heater fan-speed switch, install new radio, equalizer, bezel
3) Remove catalytic convertors and replace with Bonez silencer
4) Replace stuck fan clutch with new unit
5) Rebuild carburetor, remove emissions and air pump.
6) Repair/recharge A/C
7) Replace rear wheel bearings
8) Reattach rearview mirror, re-solder interior light and replace lens.
9) Get scratch on bumper and lower valence fixed.
10) Repair door panel vinyl
11) Repair ripped seat covers
12) Re-glue headliner

Are we gonna resurect this page in December so we can check on ourselves?

I'm going to...

Finish the groadster turbo build another words:

1. buy seals for the S5 engine and stick it together

2. buy a clutch kit for it

3. restore the harness from the current "ball" of FC and FB wires to something resembling a harness

4. buy either a J-tek 4 port mani or a Racing beat mani and a pair of weld adaptors for the exhaust

5. buy an exhaust gas analyser (whoo hoo no more borrowing) and tune a turbo carby

6. fix anything that might come up on it that I am not aware of as of now

The old 79 ain't gonna get crap. It gets the DD treatment untill the red one is ready to bear the burden. Then it meets "white shores" and a good restoration in 2015.

Hmmm. All the stuff I didn't do in '13.
4.77 rear/LSD
Aluminum flywheel,
RB SS pressure plate, ACT disc
Remote oiler
Mazdaspeed3 passenger seat
Hood louvres
Paint?
Tint?
It could happen before DGRR.

On the 85 GSL-SE:

Continue restoration efforts:
Tune up due to rough idle when cold.
The black windshield trim needs paint (or powder coat).
There are a few dents and the clear coat is gone is some places.
The external badges need attention.
Finish fixing the metal sun roof I bought for her.
Figure out how to eliminate the stereo pop when OEM stereo gets turned off.
Drivers side window regulator needs attention.
Door cup pulls.
Power Steering swap.

On the 85 GSL-EV:

Heater.
Control Link bushings.
Front brake pads.
Rust work.
Front battery box cover.
Heater.
Storage box hinge repair.
Vacuum brake assist.
Weather strip on doors.
Door cup pulls.
Heater.
Continue to Repair/Freshen the faded interior.
Diet to lower the weight without affecting appearance.
Possibilities are carbon/fiberglass hood, carbon/fiberglass fenders, carbon/fiberglass moon roof.
Replace windshield and hatch glass with polycarbonate.
Light weight wheels in a size where I can put on LRR tires.
Did I mention Heater?
Testing to determine actual performance. Dyno maybe?

Finish making the molds for door cup pulls and then making a couple for each car (just in case).

The big item is to finish my brake refurbish/rear end swap, out with the 150k rear and control arms in with a 40k set-up, this is has been slow going due to no garage.
After that is done we move to
1)Brand new (ie no more used) rear tires
2)alignment (she pulls right just slightly)
3)new front and rear shocks (they are blown to hell)
4)finish replacing bushings
5)new engine and trans mounts
6)lay down primer and repair minor rust bubbles on sunroof and near rear hatch, so at some point I can do body work.
After this I intend to start saving to do some work to the interior, suspension, igniton, paint, and body, and tires and wheels.
This is gunna be a long term project so 2014 will be used to get some things I can aford to do and need done to finish making the car mechanically sound.
