1-4-11 OGTA Meeting Report

1-4-11 OGTA Report, Suwanee GA.
Chilly, but not cold.

There were still a few FB's showing up at the end of the meeting, it was hard to count them all. But here's what Kristy and Holly came up with:

5 FB's = 5 12A's (New Guy Alberto, Crit, Dean, Mike, Ray)

3 FC's = 1.5 12A's (Chris, Turbo Pete, PrePro Kristy)

1 FD = 0.33 12A's (Jeremy)

3 FE's = 0.375 12A's (Kevin, Holly, Billy)

3 Boingers = 0 12A's (Gene, The White Miata and the White Former FC)

Total 12A Count = 7.205 12A Equivalents, not bad for the middle of winter!

Here's the pics:

The FB Group:

New Guy Alberto's $200 project FB, runs like a clock

Crit's SE

Dean the Deer Slayer

Ray's Silver One

Admires of Mike's new rat free engine bay

The OGTA motto is: "Old, but not Slow". And we all know how to fix the cars. Wisdom comes with age, and rotaries!

Yep, PrePro means "Preproduction". Kristy is Holly's daughter and Holly is well connected in the rotary world, which allowed her to snag the PrePro, one of the rarest rotaries on the planet.

I didn't get any pics under the hoods of the boingers, didn't seem that interesting at the time.

I suspect the Miata has a Miata engine, since he uses it for Spec racing. I'm still trying to figure out how he gets those front wheels to turn with them bumped up against the fenders like that.

The white FC with the boinger has some kind of monster V8 in it from an American car, as I recall it has the letter "L" in it and makes 400+ HP.

Ho hum, the white FC with the bridgeport was way more interesting.

Yep those young guys with 13B's sure do like their gauges, lights and LED's. They say they have a positive effect on women.

Our annual snow here in NE Georgia happened on Christmas this year, but it's long gone now. Here's my drive the day after:

Michael next meeting is Tuesday, February 1. See if you can make it down!

The summer meets are a lot bigger and warmer and there's lots more light.

Here's a rundown on Kristy's PrePro from Kristy herself. She's posted a link to pictures at the end, might work:

Here is what I'm told. Mazda Japan sent this pre-production car to Mazda N.A. to play with, tamper with, change things, etc. They would use them for press release photos, reviews and so on. Once finished with the car they were suppose to go to one of their factory racecar drivers to be turned into a racecar. Well this one never made it to racecar status. Mazda N.A. gave it to Dave Jolley; a factory Mazda driver, who didn't turn it into a racecar and also could not street it because of living in California and emissions. So in 2001 with 15K on it he sold it to Jim Downing, who titled and registered it in GA. Jim kept it for his collection and would not sell it till recently. I had had my eye on it for about 7 years. Finally the stars aligned and now its mine with 17K on it (about 1,000 of those miles were put on by my mother driving to DGRR last year). Beyond that I couldn't tell you anymore about the history. I can't tell you if the things that are different were done by Mazda Japan, Mazda N.A., Dave Jolley or Jim Downing. I can only assume that some of differences were what they were trying out for the production cars.

Gosh there are a lot of little things that are different and the more I'm in the car the more I find those differences. The main difference is the mix of FB and FC parts. It has an 85 gsl-se motor. (two coil packs and a distributor) A couple of the differences that I don't have pics on my site yet are.... All the writing on the interior is in white, the A pillars have a smooth finish. There are more things like this. Please forgive me. I'm still in shock that I actually own this car. I'm going into my second week of owning it. I will become all knowing of it soon. Plus my last FC was a 90 vert so this S4, FB stuff is really new to me. anyway. you can see more pics on the site in my signature link.

It's basically a TII with a NA S4 drivetrain.

Ray, I'm jealous. You guys seem to have some good turnouts.
