$$-est, Newest SA in the World??
Mazda RX 7 Series 1 SE 1979 | Trade Me
$50K - 3800Km (!) (2500mi!?)
Let me quote here in case the link goes down:
"This is possibly the lowest km RX7 in the world.
It is in amazing original condition and still has the original paint. It is the SE model which has the factory sunroof, electric mirrors and windows and the rear spoiler.
I found it in Japan and did a lot of research into the authenticity of the mileage. We could not find any evidence of the mileage being wrong and we also got a professional company to check it out and they also found the km's to be genuine. All I did to it when it arrived was cleaned it and got it checked over by a reputed rotary mechanic. Afterwards he thanked me for letting him work on it! The compression's are what you would expect of an engine that has only done 7000 k's and they were the same for each rotor.
Underneath the car looks like it is brand new and is still shiny. The testing station guys always gather round to look underneath.
For those that look up the mileage history on carjam will notice that it shows it coming in to the country with 38000 k's on it. It seems that even the data entry person at border control couldn't believe the k's either and they have added a zero to the end. It actually came in with 3800 km's. I contacted land transport and it can be changed if you want by sending a copy of the dereg papers to them. I haven't bothered and I think it adds to the story of the car's history in NZ. I think I can get hold of the dereg papers if someone wants them.
There is some sun damage to the upholstery and some parts of the paint work. There is no rust.
All serious offers will be considered. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a classic car that will only increase in value.
Please do not send any silly texts!"
No. Please. DO!
I posted some of the pics here too.
It DOES look pretty minty. This is a late 79 JDM Limited (these were the first home market RX7s to get the sunroof, which FIRST Limiteds did not have), which was the absolute Uber-SA, anywhere, with the same instrument cluster as the US 79 Limited (ie, digital clock). Note power mirrors and leather-wrapped steering wheel and, if you look close at the INTERIOR shot, the passenger door has a power window switch!
So. Here is what's a bit fishy: where are the side moldings?? ALL RX7 in japan came with them except the bargain-basement "Custom". NO badges either: hood, rear, or Right fender are blank! So I am thinking: repaint?? What other stories are untold? Esp at this year-2025 selling price!! HA!

You do come up with some interesting finds Stu. Never saw this color combo before. Red on Burgandy / Brown with black accents? we had Burgandy vinal door pannels but these are burgandy velour like the grey velour used in the 79 US limited.
So, 4,500 miles? Impossibile to tell from pictures. The paint looks better than new and seems to be noticeably better on the body than under the bonnet. Combine that along with the absence of badging (or the holes for the badges) no body moldings, too glossy black window trim and I'd agree with your repaint theory. Still, probably a nice car get ahold of if the price wasn't so insane. This is NZ right, so even in US thats like $40K!
I'd have to change the interior and dip her in Mach Green.

Is it just me, or does the choke **** look to have been replaced with a headlight **** from some other car?
Rear tow eye is missing.
Lack of trim holes seems a dead giveaway for having been repainted.
Wheels look way too dull/weathered to only have seen 4k miles.
Can't judge much else from these shots - too small.

Yeah - small pics hide a lot. but interesting if looney. Ozzies love this stuff (well, so do I but not a the price of a Cosmo Sport).
Banzai - yes I was surprised at the interior trim too. At least not plaid eh?
