Hood Scoop
I'll probably use an enlarged hood scoop from a 2000ish WRX. What do you guys think?
Hope this image links in.
I checked one out on a friends car and the size looks just right. It even has a bypass duct on the right side of the scoop to vent cooling air down on the turbo--Not bad.
And you can get'em for about $180. Some modifications definitely required but not too bad.
Sure wish this thread came back to life.

p.s. setzep thanks for the info in the pm.

Setzep, i just got the hood yesterday and its a complete fiberglass T2 hood that fits a first gen. I paid 450.00 for it but it weight about 8lbs. Im not sure who made it but if anyone wants i can ask the guy i bought it from where you might find one. oh yeah the scope is not offcenter either its now center.

no front TMIC for me, just running a air/water cooler kindof were the battery used to go. Shoot me a pm so we can talk some more, its kindof lonely being the only( i think) guy in stl building a FB.

Setzep,
Yea I'm wanting to use the TMIC but I sure don't like the way TII hoods are offset. This scoop has a larger frontal area so I'm hoping it will do a better job. Plus this way will look better and probably be cheaper.
I've heard that particular area is not so good for ram air. I think I'll temp mount some pitot tubes and find out what kind of pressure I get. I can't believe it's negative pressure, by measuring the pressure I can verify how much air I'll get. Also, why would that location be OK for a WRX and not good for an RX? How could the flow be that much different?
A FMIC would be nice but I don't see any way to run the tubing. With p/s and a/c there just isn't that much room. If I gave them up there would be room but I don't want to.

riffraff- thats what all the ladies say
LTProject- yeah, probably going to have something come off the front plate/intake manifold to support it at the top. Maybe have a turnbuckle with a hyme joint so it can move in and out with the expansion and contraction of the manifold. But people have said nothing is needed because of the thick wall pipe that I used (.125" wall thickness)

Hey Rotorheads!! I havent checked this thread for a while, but I have some cool news. I found a shop here in columbus called Driveline One, and I might be getting a custom aluminum driveshaft made for around 350-400 bucks, this didnt sound bad cause they build it to your specs, for the horsepower your expecting, drive yoke, length and rear flange. They also make custom carbon fiber units in the $1k plus range. I'm going to find out the prices for sure in about a month when I have my money to go there. I'll update soon. Also my motor is getting closer to being finished, maybe in a month and a half. Oh yeah the pics of my car, I just scanned some today of the earlier last summer photos (digital camera all f**cked up) So I post a few, I promise. And Setzep, your turbo is crazy!!!!!! I like it.

turbo doesn't come close to it, the rear runner is about 4" way from the idler arm. When I turn the wheels all the way to the right the wastegate is a couple inches away from it.

I sold my complete TII setup to someone on the forum and just bought a 13BRE Cosmo from J-SpecConcepts in Alberta. Turbonetics turbo arrived last week, T60-1 with Q-trim turb. wheel and have decided to run twin wastegates with a Blitz dual selnoid boost controller. Im going to still use my TII harness which was grafted to my 1st gen and run my HKS additional inj. controller with 4inj. What do you guys think of the new setup so far? I was thinking about running 4, 36lb inj. Enough fuel? I dont want to max them out, and im targeting 400++++++hp. woooooooohooooooooooo

I have been pondering a couple of questions, and I know they have all been asked before, but I cant seem to find where, so here goes: How much horsepower , will the rear end in a GSL-SE take if you have a s5 turbo motor, turbo ll tranny, and a beefy driveshaft? Asuming the rear end is in good condition, all stock, good bearings and strong rebuilt limited slip. Remember I have big ,very hard to spin, rear tires, so more stress will see the rear end. Also second question, if my motor is ported, has a full racing beat 3" exhaust all the way back, intake, and front mount large intercooler, stock new turbo, and a boost controller, really good high flow fuel pump, fuel cut defenser, and re-mapped ecu, will the stock injectors support these bolt-on's???? I have a felling they wont from what I heard and boost creep seems to be a problem from what people say with the 3" exhaust. If they are too small, what size would be good? I dont want to build this thing and be too lean, but not to rich either. I would like to run 280-300 hp, and I dont know how much psi that takes . I definitly dont want to get a AIC yet, if anyone is running a simular setup let me know! I want to play it safe! Thanks so much
