ok another question.. how big should i keep the pipes for the Fm and to the carb? and i tap the front housing for the oil.. but in moremazda's write up i did not see any write up on the coolant.. since the stock S4 S5 turbo and manafold will bolt right up i am planning on useing that.. where should i run the coolant too? thanks!

there should be a hose that runs from under the water temp switch to the engine, u could cut it in half, and run them to the turbo,.... thats what we did on my buds car, if it helps,...

Funny, My friend Derek (swooshmand) is in the process of switching his 88' GXL to a TII. All together it shouldn't take longer than a full weeks activity.

Hello Peeps

I'm in the process of getting a GSL-SE with a 12A
Holly 600 Fed setup
glass moon roof
clean interior
Magnacore wires
mallory regulator
MSD Fuel Pump
car has been sitting for a long time after the engine rebuild and seems the seals are stuck

So I might open the motor up and clean it up change springs and sell the block and all the other performace stuff

I have a TII and I have several extra motors
as I understand it I would need a SE front cover and Oil Pan.
If I want to run a TII ECU can I use a dist to control Ignition and have the TII ECU do the fuel??

or I quess I can get a Fuel only computer like the MT-4

---------------------------------------------------------------------
also can I change the TII flywheel for a N/A one of the same years and use the stock SE tranny?

Thanks

kabooski- I'm sure you could run just the T2 computer for the fuel but why??
People have run the same year (series) n/a flywheel on their T2 engines in the past and seems to work for them. I'm assuming you want to do this so you can run the n/a trans?

jonfc3s- I'm going to have ~8k into mine by the time I'm road worthy. I have about 5700 right now and I still need a ECU, BOV, driveshaft and I'm sure a lot of other small stuff.

i was wondering, how difficult is it exactly to tune or setup a stand alone ecu,... could any person do it, or would they need tech support or something,...... i would really like to do this, but i dont know how to deal w setting one up. i have thought of turb/carb, but i think efi would be more reliable, the stock ecu would do, but i heard thats a wiring nightmare,......

definatly not a factory option.. and you are damn lucky that the guy you bought your car from did that... usually you have to swap in the front subframe and everything attached to it to get a rack and pinion... or a **** load of custom work.. (either way i think it is a hell of a lot of work)

I'm finishing up my GSL SE/Turbo II conversion using a blow-thru Holley, since we disconnected the factory computer the car won't shut off. Seems like the dissabled factory management system is preventing the car from shutting off. Anybody has any suggestions?

I agree! All turbo FB owners update us on ur ride regaurdless of how small of small of changes you have done. If u have had an off the wall or just good ideas let everyone know because maybe u don't have the time, tools, material or funds to bring ur idea to life and someone else does. Anyway hope to see many more posts in the next couple of days.
THANX!

Hood Scoop

Well guys, I've almost decided to join the turbo FB club. Got an 88 AE with a blown engine and trying to size up the job. I want to install a rebuilt 13bt with the TII tranny.

Looking at intercooler options. Really didn't want a hood scoop but I don't see any room for intercooler piping to the front of the car (I have a/c and p/s). Also, the hood scoop would weigh less and involve less crap in the way of maintenance and repairs.

I was looking at putting an enlarged wrx hood scoop on the standard FB hood--and of course I want it in the center not offset like the FCs. Has anyone thought of or tried this? Here is a link to one--couldn't figure out how to paste it in. What do ya think?
