(INTAKE) Which carb rebuild kit to buy and where?

Well i finally have a spare 84' nikki carb. Now i am gonna try this rebuild on my own. I searched some and have found that you guys recommend GP Sorsen carb kits. I found these kits at autozone for 22 bucks and i found the same company (GP Sorsen) rebuild kit at advance auto parts for 39 bucks (do you guys know if this carb kit is any different fro mthe autozone one). Now why would there be such a change in price if its the same maunfacture? What other kit would you guys recommend?? Thanks fellas for any help you can give me!

Get the part number from both places. If it's the same, you can always try getting advance to price match autozone. I would imagine it is the same kit.

Hmm....

The only recommendation I trust is the recomendation of Rx7Carl and Sterling.

Hygrade (sometimes found under the brand name Standard) and nothing else.

I bought a kit, sat in the shop for a couple years, Kevin, Kgray, brought his SA up for a rebuild and brought his own kit, different brand than mine. I had to break open my kit to finish his carb up and what do I find? The exact same instruction sheet, right down to the publishing date. My kit was a Beck/Arnley, funny thing is, they both came from O'Reillys.

Neither one was that good of a kit.

I use the autozone kit, works great. The carb is easy to rebuild. The AAP is the same as AZ they just make lots of cash off it, they also charge $10 apice for the NGK plugs, when other places charge 5.

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS 1401 CARBURETOR KIT
Note: nikki;n-4;carb# 834113200a;83421300a;886813200f/g;886913200g;887113200f/g;887213200g; 834413200a;834513200a;8458513200

from www.autopartsgiant.com i have used them for plug wires and filters and batt. cables. good service from what looks like an unreliable site.

you will have to put in rx7 your year and "carburater kits and floats" as your part type

I don't know about you yankees, but up here the "CarQuest" chain of stores can get the Hygrade/Standard kits. Some other places can special order them for you.
