Whine sound. Please help before tomorrow morning if posible!

evening all. Driving a 3rd gen 1995 pretty much standard

I'm taking the car to a garage tomorrow morning but want to make sure its ok to drive it there so any diagnosis would be helpful!

Started to get a squeeking sound when I turn the wheel. This also increases when I pull away / accelerate. I've only had the car just under a month and always had a little bit of a whirring sound from under the gear stick, but just assumed that was the shaft to the rear wheels.

Popped open the bonnet when idling and the sound seems to actually be there all the time now and be coming from the alternator area. Not knowing the car too well, I'm not entirely sure what this might be and if it should be ok to get it to a garage? (concern is damage to the engine as opposed whether it will make it there etc)

hope you can help!

thanks

Its hard to diagnose noises over the internet. It could something as simple as a worn belt that needs replacing. Or it could be the Power Steering is low on oil.

You should be OK but do check that the PS reservoir has some oil and that your coolant and engine oil is topped off
