Leaking injectors causing flood? help ASAP

88 GXL

ok, I am pretty sure i am having a flooding problem

the only way to get my car started is if remove the EGI fuse, crank on it, hold pedal to floor, and have someone put in the EGI fuse while I am cranking and holding pedal to floor, then it fires

what can cause this? leaking injectors?

Leaking injectors, low compression, bad plugs, or it could also be caused by the starter turning over to slowely. If it the starter speed sounds normal, then check your compression and plugs, if thats good, get your injectors cleaned.

check air filter, sounds like getting enough gas but not enough air which would cause you to need a running start so to say

lmao i had the same god damn problem >< you may need new fuel injectors or it's a vacuum leak, what I did was took out my injectors cleaned them good with engine degreaser and put them back in and started her up, it would only stay running for about 10 seconds inless i kept my foot on the gass to keep her alive >< today we took it to the street and found that I had about 3 vacuum leaks. fixed that issue, now she runs like a champ. good luck bro

Mate, that's exactly it! I've had almost the same problem 2 years ago with a Redex injector cleaner added to a tank... You see it really takes the dirt and debrys away from where it residues... but not only from injectors... your fuel lines, tank... and some small particles of dirt could clog one or more of your injectors keeping them from complete closing state (it can be a micron sized piece) and as a result it starts leaking a residual fuel pressure into a combustion chamber washing away your oil film that makes compression...

i'd recommend you to clean your injectors...

This injector cleaner is good only for regular use... Like once in a half year... If you never did it before you will possibly get what you have now...
