Custom oil pan for a 13b
Custom oil pan for a 13b
I need to build a custom oil pan for a 13b the stock one interferes with the steering rack.
The oil pan needs to look like the drawing below. What I am trying to get a sense of is how small can I make measurement “A” and “B”. Can “A” = 0 inches and “B” = .25 inches. How small is too small? Please keep in mind drawing not to scale. Thank you in advance for any constructive advice.

It is for a Datsun 280ZX. I am trying to avoid cutting into the tranny tunnel. From my trial fits and measuring I have just enough space if the oil pan is as skinny as possible above the steering rack.
there are aluminum pans available at www.summitracing.com or www.mazdadragracing.com
Thank you for your suggestion. But I think your are missing my question.
I don't need nor want to purchase a pan. I am going to build one. And what I am looking for some feedback/wisdom to the design of it.
What is the smallest angel of incline from the back of the engine to the sump can it be? (Refer to picture)
Can A and B be 0 inches or lets say 1/8 inches and no slop? (Refer to picture)

I do understand your questions. i referred you to those sites as Im not sure about the dimensions and at least, you may get ideas on how to do it since you will be fabricating it.
BTW: I never seen a rotary 280ZX.

I can not think of any reason why it would have to be angled except oil drainage to the bottom. If it were flat there would only be a tiny oil film that stayed on the surface. I think you would be good to go flat or not.
