Is it OK to use Mobil1 10W-40 in my FD
Ok, I went up to Dave to get an oil change well Dave ran out of Redline oil and all all he have at the time was Mobli1 10W-40 synthetic oil. I have no options but to go with the mobil. Dave put the Redline synthetic before the break-in and this actually the first time I came to get my oil change after 2600 miles during the break-in. Dave told me that it is OK to use the mobil so I take his word for it. Really I was concern because I don't know much about oil for rotary engines. So does any of you guys out there have used Mobil synthetic oil for there FD. For now is it OK that I am running the Mobil. Well I always wanted to used Redline oils and that is what I am going with.
I would stay away from synthetics for the FD. Our engine actually injects oil into the combustion chamber to burn along with the fuel. Synthetics are proven to not burn completely and leave nasty deposits. There are many posts on this if you search synthetic oils.
The never ending debate. FWIW many owners and Rotary shops use synthetics with Mobil1 being one of the preferred brands. As far as them not burning completely that is true but it is true of all oils. It just depends on how much is not burnt and from what I have read it's about the same. About 1% See the link:
