got my first fb.... and now teh qwestions...

21, first car, 85 gsl, w00t w00t, etc.

and now, gentlemen, to business.

1. the car is definitly not making 105hp. i was flooring it in fourth and i could barely make 80kph.

i dont know if i can do the atf trick, since i live in the city. and ive heard its a lot of smoke....

it also has very poor throttle response. downshifiting is a pain, as it takes inordinately long to rev up to the appropriate rps.

what should I be looking at?

oh yeah, and MMO is not available in canada.

sounds like maybe you might need a carb rebuild, more info about what the car is and is not doing is definitely needed.

I always advise anyone buying a used car to change all the filters and fluids, THEN judge the car's mechanical performance.

the vacume secondaries are possibly not working. the diaphram may have a hole in it.

Ditto, go to the auto store, buy these things...

fuel filter
air filter
oil filter
ngk or denso spark plugs (ive been told the ngk's are the way to go if you can find em)
New plug wires

Also, change your motor oil, and gear oil.

then if it still drives like crap, look into rebuilding your carb. It might have a vaccum leak or something.

Congratulations on the purchase!

Do what the others are saying first then then look at your secondaries to see if they are opening properly. (You will need to have a friend step on the gas pedal so you can watch the travel of the secondaries opening and closing.)

Yeah, and then check your exhaust for a clogged cat. Frickin clogged cat on my SE last summer made me think that the motor was blown. It was THAT slow, seriously. Then I got Mindtrain headers and exhaust and now it goes
