5th gear syncro died!?!

5th gear syncro died!?!

got up, started teh car, started driving to work, got on teh highway, GRRRRR, 5th gear wtF?! it was good yesturday and all of a sudden its dead. can this even happen? wear out a syncro in one day. last time i drove it was on teh way home yesturday and it worked perfect. now eveytimei swithch it grinds. have to wait for the rpms to fall off or double clutch and still almost never good. i had this on one of my other not rx7 car, but double clutching usually helped... any suggestions?

how hard is it to replace synchro's?? cause my 1st gear is loud, as well as the 5th! grr and the throw out bearing is gone, the engiens fine

Its around 300-500 bucks to remove and replace the syncros. Just wait until you need a clutch and get both done at the same time.

yeah i knwo ho wmuch it is, thats why id o **** myself , well and for other reasons...hmm maybe a early clutch job too, since i kidna dont liek my clutch...damn it...freakign just got this car 2-3 weeks ago

just drive it around, if you match revs correctly you can get it to go into gear without grinding. 5th gear syncros always go out on 3rd gens more often then 2nds, its not a big deal.
