I would have to guess that they buy their methanol and just resell it where as the actually make Q16 so they stand to make more money from it. I am sure you could find some way to spin it where methanol would be cheaper.

I'll stick with Methanol!

Even if you disregard costs.....what the the chances that q16 makes more power than meth.

My findings.
If mechanical limits were not involved then no one as of yet has found the horsepower limits of Methanol. Q16 on the other hand is a different story.I have pushed Q16 upwards of 60psi but I've also seen the limits of that fuel. The cooling effect that methanol provides cannot be replaced in certain applicatons by Q16.
Believe it or not but from my findings I prefer to run E85 up to 50psi rather than Q16. I have made the same power on E85 as Q16 but the E85 provides a greater cooling effect and the results are often more consistent and sucessfull. Also when stuff does work out as planned a motor for example will tolerate a serious lean out on E85 vs Q16. There's no substitute for the cooling effect that methanol/alcohol/ethanol provides.
The above sales pitch from VP forgot to factor in the cost of a motor repair from the damage of not running Methanol!. How about they offer that challenge to the ultimate high powered vechicles in the world and guarantee to repair/replace parts when damgage/destruction occur. I bet that will never happen.
Seriously though I kinda saw this type of sales pitch happenning just by what is going on as of late in my neck of the woods. Why would anyone want to run fuel that cost 4-5 times per gallon when there's a cheaper substitute. It's funny but VP did not even mention the cost of 'Import' fuel which was regarded as their top of the line racing fuel. They actually should have compared the cost of Q16 vs Import because I know most of the local racers are getting the same results with the lower cost alternative.

Funny you mentioned that because I was quoted a price from VP for ethanol at three times the cost I could purchase it from a supplier. It turned out they were getting it form the same place!

Thanks for the info.
I never used Q16, but I have noticed that E85 has a larger tuning window over the fuels that I have used aswell. I was wondering would I benefit more from meth over E85. Have you run 50psi on straight E85. Also is the winter blend safe for 30psi; or should I mix some meth with it. Our winter blend is 70% ethanol.

With E85 on one application 45psi and 47psi on another.

I made about 20-30rwhp more using Q116 over C116, but wouldn't even think of comparing Q116 to meth, just for what Crispeed said about the cooling properties. The meth helps keep the seals from warping. Cost factor may be decieving as you need to run a lot more fuel with meth. Still Meth probably is going to be cheaper.

This to me is a sales pitch...

I do believe that gas is good and big power could be made with Q16 or VP Import but i would never say it's better then meth or even ethanol..

Only thing that really sucks about meth is the upkeep..
I'm almost tempted to start using E100
