rotor race clearencing (side face and tip, plus apex seal clearencing), who does it?
hey guys, im looking for a shop here in the states (im in fl) that does rotor clearencing for a decent price. where do you guys send your rotors off to have them clearenced? the only website i found that does full race clearencing is rec services in canada. unfortunately i feel like it would take a really long time to getthrough customs and shipping and such. also, my cell phone got turned off and i don't hve another phone that can do outof country calling. if you gys have any adcvice it wuld be appreciated. im building a 4 port bridge port engine and need to be clearenced for high rev abuse

It's just a simple machining process, basically anyone can do it.
I removed .005 from each side of my rotors by chucking them in a brake lathe and working on them manually with a file and a sanding disk, followed up by a thorough deburring of the seal slots. .005 is not very much metal.

Here is a good way and correct way of doing it. The video shows how its done in steps. As the rotor gear is much hire than the side face of the rotor. Most rotary shops machine the hole rotor side face to one even surface LOL. Correct side clearance is done in steps and not in one clean sweep...."_...

so i just got off the phone with Ben over at rotary evolution. for full race rotor clearancing (side face and tip clearancing along with side seal clearancing) for only $325+ return shipping.
Thanks Ryuske for recommending them.
my original choice was Rec services but then i realized they are in canada and the amount of time/cost it would take to ship out of country will make the price around the same anyway but save a bit of time in shipping. anyhow, thanks guys

CLR is one of the best and is close to you in Florida.
Roger Mandeville is a legend, has good prices, quick turn around, and very pleasant to work with.
Chips, shown in the video above. No personal experience, but seems to do good work from what I've seen and heard.
Mazdatrix and Racing Beat have been doing this stuff for years.
Get everything balanced as well, while it's in for the clearance work.
Ship the rotors by USPS in a large flat rate priority box. Two rotors and counter weights will fit in one box and everything will ship, insured, for less than $20. Cheapest, fastest way to ship engine parts by far.

than you Ludwig for your input, i'll be sure to give CLR a call as soon as i figure out what the letters abreviate so i can search for their number lol. i haven't heard of CLR before. however, in florida means faster shipping times and faster turnaround times means faster engine building
i am going to be getting a full balance with an 8lbs flywheel im also going to be using mfr rotor bearings and mfr stat gears with 3 window bearings. also i am getting the eshaft worked over to add a bevel at the ends to extend stat gear bearing life and adding some chamfer to the oil passages to allow better oil flow to the rotors. i have everything figured out except for who is clearancing the rotors. if anyone has CLR's phone number on hand that would be great, also where are they located in fl?

Before you take the CLR plunge, make sure you are not in any hurry or 2-3 month wait on your job... Be prepared to wait 9-12 month for your stuff to get done.
You will however get 1-2 month delivery just to get your money, the road after you paid Carlos will be full of excuses and bull..
Play at you'r own risk.. ....

to slow, your not the first to tell me something similar to that. i have gotten a few pm's telling me the same thing about clr, i think i may keep looking for a different shop. any others in this flat state of ours?
