Jon from Atomic Rex I want my refund of money deposit and parts. Been waiting 2 years
I have been told to post here as I am definetely feeling ignored and for a long time.
With the once available groupbuy for rx7 manual steering cnc'd racks, I contacted Jon and inquired about developing a 240sx rack. He said it can be done, he just needs the sample parts, etc... and price how much it would be plus deposit.
I organized a few interest checks and lots of people wanted it, but lots of people doubted it too. Saddly these doubters turned out right 2+ years later.
A few people did deposits and got their money back as they backed out. One of the people contacted me and said Jon would not get back to him for a refund. I paid that guy 500USD and told Jon. Jon said that's fine and it'll count towards my deposit.
I then got a HICAS rack which is the fast rack on a 240sx and sent it to Jon. I also sent mounting brackets which were hard to find new as they were low on stock/out of production (after all its been so long since this car has been in production). A few other misc parts and spent 120$ on shipping for it to come to Jon in the UK .. took two months.. but it got there.
Then it was a battle back and forth on phone, email, for a while... delays delays delays delays. One guy screwing him over to another, etc...
I have been more patient than anybody else... I was really just full of hope that Jon would go through and finally finish my rack.
He said I would get it 'free' as i did deposit + the contributed parts, but i have nothing today.
I want my rack, all the misc parts and the 500USD refunded... Or I want a working 240sx cnc manual rack in my hands!
Someone help, because he has been ignoring my emails.. so i dont even bother trying to email anymore. Every time I call since long time he started ignoring me bacuse I guess he would see my Canada long distance number. I would leave voice mails.

Probably the reason you haven't heard from AtomicRex is that they died a long time ago. I have bought out their projects as well as a number of their designs and products they had.
We are looking to now push them forward, but that is as far as the relationship goes with Atomic.
As I am aware, the problems you suffered from came with the steering racks. The racks were due to be made by a company based in California, and as such all items were sent there. This included both LH and RH racks for the Rx7 and S14 Ahmed, I believe yours was one of them.
The company took the money and did nothing with them, a lot of money was lost and they ended up not returning the racks. So I Don't believe it was done personally towards you, but even so I am surprised you were left out of pocket. I have sent you a personal message asking for you to get in touch with me to see if something can be done to go someway into rectifying the situation. Atomic is no longer trading, but seeing as though I have taken the products I will look to go someway into sorting this problem with you.

And now, for the rest of the story....
A person identifying himself as "Dan" responded to inquiry some time back about this company. I was told by "Dan" that he bought out some of the projects and designs from Rex. We know that Rex was a guy named Jon Reeves. I have been informed that Jon Reeves has nothing to do with Minotaur Racing Limited.
HOWEVER, nothing could be further from the truth. Jon Duncan Reeves is the name of the director and founder of Minotaur Racing Limited. Jon Duncan Reeves also happens to be the name of the co-founder of Atomic Rex. But there's more....both AR and Minotaur use the same exact address for their business registration:
Registered Address:
65 St Mary Street
Chippenham
Wiltshire
SN15 3JF
United Kingdom
Here's a profile I found for them--you will have to register to see the info but it is quick and free to do so:
https://www.duedil.com/company/08282...racing-limited
Here's the same site's entry for Atomic Rex:
At the time AR shut its doors, this website reports that Jon had outstanding debts in the amount of $349,685.56(217,196 GBP at the current 1.61 exchange rate). I'm fairly certain that this does not account for every customer that is owed money, though. I believe this is businesses and agents, not individual customers.
Jon Duncan Reeves also has been director of 5 other businesses, according to this website. The only other one currently named was Atom290 Limited:
Atom290 had outstanding liabilities of 27,498 GBP, or $44,271.78 when it was dissolved. Apparently, Jon seems to have a history of running up debts with every company he starts, then he simply abandons the company--and its debts, and the customers left without--and starts a new one under a different name.
Time to own up, Jon. And time to make this right.
In the meantime, you are not to list another for sale thread or group buy thread on this forum.
You have lied to this guy about who you really are, "Dan", and you have lied to me directly. No more games. Make this right.

Well this "Dan" that contacted me said he will make up for what has happened with my situation by giving me a new rack as there is a new set of racks being produced first rx7 then 240sx/r32/etc...
The funny thing is I want to part out my unfinished 240sx track car or straight up trade for a clean stock fd rx7 lol so I would very much take an rx7 rack now lol...
and yes all these years I still have nothing in my hands and no money either... or a rack..

I just got a message from Minotaur Racing on facebook telling me I will have my free LHD RX7 rack sent to me (since I plan to get an rx7 anyway and get rid of my 240sx car) if Roller reopens the group buy.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Hold fire please.
There isn't any nerve going on here. I was originally a co-owner of AtomicRex, and following a number of problems, set about leaving AR and setting up Minotaur Racing. Just to clear up the monies owed by Atomic approx $300k, these were actually owed to me personally...that was part of my directors loan. I left Atomic back in November/December 2012, and the business under the other partner collapsed in Feb 2013.
I set up Minotaur with a number of people, it is too busy for me to run single handed. I am primarily involved in the design work now, and for that matter, most of my time is spent on a car I am looking to bring to market. I am based in the workshop, so when people visit they will meet me, but there are others that are integral to the business too. Dan is involved in the trade sales currently, and was the person who was setting up the group buy. And then there is Chris who is involved with the web side, so our new online shop is being developed by him.
I am not the sole owner though.
AR fell foul of a number of problems, partly due to my enthusiasm of offering time frames that were a little too keen, and not met, but mainly due to a number of staff working in the workshop that let AR down on building the cars. Finding good technicians is very hard, and when they let you down, they move on and leave the business to face the fall out. Seeing as that wasn't my primary responsibility I said I’d had enough, so pulled the parts I had had ownership of, and set up under a new guise, losing a large chunk of my investment in the process.
The debacle with the steering racks wasn't solely my fault. I think most, if not all, will agree the original racks were a great success. There are plenty being used to date, and are still talked about favourably as far as I am aware.
I was asked by Ahmed to extend the range to cover the S13/14/15 range. And he dutifully sent over some sample racks. These were designed by the original company and were due to be put into production. However they sacked their operations manager, and the new person declared that they weren't making enough profit, so put the prices of the racks up. These were going to come into me at over £1200 close to $2000! After adding a margin, they would have sat on the shelf as no one would have been able to afford them.
I scoured the UK to try and find another company to manufacture these, and eventually turned to a company I was pointed towards in California of all places. My thoughts were that this would drop the costs down, as the unit prices being quoted were cheaper and also the delivery charges would be less. However 12 months went by with failing promises, and although I was able to recover the deposits I had sent over, the racks I had sent were lost.
I spoke to another company in the UK, as we are only a small country so visiting the company when things weren't going to plan was far easier than flying to California! But once again promises weren't met, and then finally AR was no more.
I have spent the last 6-9 months designing and developing a rack that is, in my opinion, far better than the original. I have it in production, and now is the opportunity to sell it.
Dan did speak to Ahmed and tell him that once the Rx7 units were selling, that we would move forward and manufacture an S Series rack, which given the hassles he had endured would be sent FOC. Following the moderators interventions into this, I personally spoke to Ahmed last night and informed him that following on from conversations with moderators, they wanted assurance that he was happy. There was no blackmail over the details, we are not holding anyone to ransom, I simply asked Ahmed to inform the mods that we were going to honour the rack, at no further cost to him. Following on from last nights conversation it would appear that Ahmed no longer wants to use the 240 and is instead looking to purchase an Rx7. I told him I was happy to send him one of those racks instead.
I want to make it clear, no one has been hiding behind anyone else. All that we want to do as a company is move forward, now that the rack is designed and manufacturing is in process, get these out onto cars. They are an excellent piece of kit (I am a little biased) and will work extremely well. We have said we will honour the legacy mistakes made.
I have designed a good number of other parts for the Rx7, and I do think they will be well received.
I don't have a tin hat on, so I am more than willing to answer questions so as to clear this mess up. Then providing we are allowed to carry on I can leave Dan to get on with hopefully talking to people and ensuring they get the parts they require.

Well I am anxious to hear what roller says. I certainly want my rack and if it's new and improved vs the old praised rack, the better. Of course I have yet to part out/trade my 240sx, and to get an fd rx7, but regardless heh.

I am working today so I will answer this in more detail later. But I will say this--ahmed's steering rack has nothing to do with this issue as far as your group buy goes. He is to receive that from you ASAP because no matter what happens here, you owe him more than that. He stuck his neck WAY out for you and what you have done in return is beyond inexcusable. Several hundred dollars worth of parts shipped to you on his dime, $500 paid to your customer that you could not even bother refunding yourself, hell he even brought you customers.
You lied to me. You lied to this forum. And you broke rules in the process. I will address that later when I have more time.
Ahmed, please post a screen shot of the Facebook message. Let's put it all on the table. More to follow....

OK, have a little more time to dig into some of this.
In March 2012, I sent Jon Reeves, AKA Atomic Rex, an email. Here is the full text of that email:
Here was the response I got from Atomic Rex:
Did I read that right, Jon? "one person who doesn't even own an Rx7 is causing the grief"? You actually blamed HIM for this situation? wow....
I sent him a reply back:
Now, I want to point this out. I requested that Jon provide a reasonable time frame for this to be resolved. He stopped all contact with me at that point and I did not ever get any response from him back then. At that point, he was not making money on this forum anyways. But all of a sudden he comes back with a new business name, and new group buy threads. And it's only then--when his thread gets locked this time and he gets called out for it--that he says he wants to make right. It is my opinion that Jon Reeves is concerned more about making his money than he is about anything else with regard to this issue. He wanted me to ignore the fact that ahmed was left hanging so that he could continue to sell parts here. I refused. The moment he saw that he would not get his thread reopened until this was handled, he stopped communicating completely with me.
That really sucks, Jon. Ahmed deserved better, and you knew it. But you were too busy chasing the money to care, apparently.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, there are some rules issues that need to be addressed.
Much of this issue revolves around ahmed getting what he rightfully deserves. But much of it also does not. We have rules around here. One of those rules is:
You were banned from this site. You then came back under a new name and pretended that Minotaur had no affiliation whatsoever with Jon Reeves. We dont take too kindly to such things.
Also, you might be interested in this rule as well:
Yes, I understand you pay to be a vendor. But the rules apply to you just the same, vendor or not.

Jon,
I am one of the moderators on RX7Club.com.....I have been forced to lock
your group buy threads, and they will remain locked until I have
confirmation that all of the people who have been left hanging are taken
care of. I am referring, among other things, to your steering rack group
buy. While I appreciate that you are a vendor here, the issues I am seeing
are simply unacceptable. Little or no communication, people waiting for
excessive time just to finally get a response from you, one guy waiting TWO
YEARS for solid update??? Really? That guy contacted you to tell you that he
wants his deposit back and the hard-to-find parts he sourced for you as
well....and he at the very least deserves a response as to when you will
make that happen. At this point, I need to hear from you within the week on
this or you may be banned and your vendor status revoked. There are too many people that you have kept waiting for this to continue. I am emailing the same to you so that you will get it one way or the other. Please handle
this so that nothing further needs to be done on my end. Thanks

Hi Jon,
Many thanks for your email. I would be grateful if you could delete the
group buy thread regarding the steering racks. I have refunded everyone
that bought the racks through the Rx7 club. The only person that is "left
hanging" is the guy with the 240 rack. That is a separate matter, and
nothing to do with the Rx7 club. He contacted me direct through a different
forum.
The racks have cost me an absolute fortune thus far, and I am now close to having them finished. It isn't a case of not updating the group....there was nothing to update, and I was tired of saying this!
I spend a fortune having my membership with the Rx7club. So I would be grateful if you could remove your post from the pillow ball bushes thread and then re-instate it.
We have been very good at serving the members on the forum with this product, and I believe we have saved them a lot of money. We have been quick to get the products out, often the guys receive them before items sent within the US would arrive.
I think it a little unfair over the case of one person who doesn't even own an Rx7 is causing the grief.
Could you please come back to me.
Many thanks

I sent him a reply back:
Hello,
I hope all is well on your side of the pond. I did receive your email, however I am concerned that this issue is still not resolved fully. While I understand that the person involved does not own an RX7, he is a member of this forum, and was a member of this forum before you began your manual rack group buy. As such, I cannot simply leave him hanging. He indicated to me that he sent you an email requesting that you return his parts to him and refund him the money he paid you as a deposit. I would like to see this resolved, and would like to know how this will happen. I will be more than happy to reopen your other thread once this is cleared up, but with all due respect to you, I do not appreciate your letter telling me that because he doesnt own an RX7 that it should not affect your dealings on this forum. He saw your product on our forum, and he only inquired of you through other channels because it doesnt make sense for him to look for interest from the Nissan crowd on a Mazda forum. Nonetheless, he is still a customer that really put himself out there for your shop and your product, and by failing to deliver you have left him in a negative light among others in that community. At the very least, he deserves to have all of his parts returned and his money refunded at earliest convenience. I have been told that some of those parts are rather hard to find. He did go out of his way to assist you in this project, and I trust you will afford him the proper level of attention to resolve everything.
As always, if there are any questions I can answer for you, I am happy to do so. Please update me with an acceptable time frame for you to return his parts and refund his money. Thank you for your cooperation.
Much regards,
Jon

If you're banned, do not register with another ID/Screen Name -- we *will* find out eventually, ban you again, and we may take further action, including the possibility of contacting your ISP to report the violation. Violations could possibly constitute federal charges.
Also, you might be interested in this rule as well:
6. Paying site Vendors must follow the forum rules just like anyone else. If a Vendor is found to not be following them, this may be considered to be a violation of their Terms of Service agreement and their access may be revoked. If this occurs, any money paid will NOT be refunded.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
As said I have nothing to hide, and I will reply seeing as though you have made it abundantly clear you are not willing to talk in private but rather air all for everyone to view.
I wasn't blaming Ahmed, for previous mistakes, and I don't want to bring up all of th conversations between us. I was, as I have already explained, stuck in a position where I couldn't get the racks made, and due to another business who screwed me over had no way of recovering the racks I had sent them.
I will admit, that a transaction that had occurred from another forum had now lead to me being excluded from this one, especially when th business was going through a tough time. And I may have reacted in a not so positive way. All of the monies were returned to rx7 club members, I even had one person screw me on that. He went to his credit card and issued a chargeback, and then when I reversed the transaction still went ahead with the chargeback and refused to then refund me. That took almost 6 months to be resolved.
At the point you decided to shut down and ban AtomicRex was the time I had started to look at leaving the business, which is why I didn't reply. Plus I had some rather big personal matters going on to contend with.
Yes I have come back, I am in a better place, and we have built a better business removing the stuff that didn't work in atomic...and now I am trying to make amends for all that went on. As soon as we had the racks made I contacted Ahmed to say that I would honour getting him a rack. There was no point in doing anything prior to that, as nothing was confirmed as happening.
As I have also itterated when Dan came on here and put together the group buy he made it abundantly clear that the monies would be paid into Paypal where they were safe and ring-fenced. This was to give the members confidence in our service.
I get the feeling whatever I say from here on in, you have made up YOUR mind to close us down. I made mistakes, I have admitted these, and the ones that affect others I'm not proud of, but when a business is collapsing around you that you have invested your life savings in, you sometimes lose the moral high ground and don't tend to act in the best of ways sometimes.
I guess I should have come on here and opened up to the world, standing on my chair and delivering the somber message that I am Jon, and I once was involved in AtomicRex. But to be honest when asked about whether to come back on here, i told the other guys that we would be probably shot down, and wouldn't have the opportunity to make amends, so I said to them come on here and see if we can build a good reputation under he new name, show the members that we are here to sell affordable racing parts and that we have the good of the customer in mind.
But it went sour...so if you want to ban us, then go ahead. I have nothing else to offer in the way of defence. I will give the assurance that those people who have paid their deposits will still get their racks, despite the group buy criteria not being met. But banning us doesn't help the members get the ability to understand the work we are doing, and nor gain access to the parts we make. I am not money lead by anymeans. And those that have come to the business will know and understand that. So I do take offence at that sweeping statement you made. I am not the Donald Trump of this world, just a small business looking to make well made components.
So as said I will leave it to, what i feel is a slight Kangaroo court, as no matter what I say will have little effect.

So you're justifying coming onto this website by completely lying about who you are in order to cover up your past transgressions, and we're the bad guys?
Give me a break. Perhaps you should look up the definition of integrity and character.

The only thing I can add is, this dan dude (whether it was jon himself or not i cannot say and would not say to be fair as I was asked what happened in the first place with jon and i detailed it) contacted me first.
I believe it was on through here then via email if i recall. I then liked their page on facebook and a month or two later messaged Minotaur racing asking for an update being told its in progress and then most recently I was msgd on facebook when this thread was updated.
I'd have to dig up the emails but minotaur racing wanted to make amends for the rack I was screwed out of via atomic rex at the time and all the drama that's happened...
Anyways... to be fair I still want my LHD RX7 rack and don't have it still but ya.. :/ Don't know what else to say...

There was no point in doing anything prior to that, as nothing was confirmed as happening.
And all at the same time that you claim "atomic was failing". Nearly one year AFTER you initiated the manual rack group buy, you started the pillow ball bush buy. A year and a half after you started the rack buy, you started the alternator relocate kit buy. For a shop that was failing and getting shafted by all these other people/companies, you were still quite busy turning out other products!
Ahmed gave you TWO YEARS of trying to get things right. In that time, you had no trouble selling these other parts and more. But you claim that he fell through the cracks because you had to shut the business. TWO YEARS, Jon. That should have been MORE than enough time to at least do something for him. But you stopped all contact with him BEFORE I ever emailed you.
As I have also itterated when Dan came on here and put together the group buy he made it abundantly clear that the monies would be paid into Paypal where they were safe and ring-fenced. This was to give the members confidence in our service.

and the ones that affect others I'm not proud of, but when a business is collapsing around you that you have invested your life savings in, you sometimes lose the moral high ground and don't tend to act in the best of ways sometimes.
And that's only these two companies we're talking about. You have been shown to be the "director" of no less than 8 companies in recent years. You always have the capital and the means to set up these companies, and when they go under, you walk away and simply start over.
I guess I should have come on here and opened up to the world, standing on my chair and delivering the somber message that I am Jon, and I once was involved in AtomicRex.
But I guess thats my fault too, right Jon?
But to be honest when asked about whether to come back on here, i told the other guys that we would be probably shot down, and wouldn't have the opportunity to make amends, so I said to them come on here and see if we can build a good reputation under he new name, show the members that we are here to sell affordable racing parts and that we have the good of the customer in mind.

All told, Jon, you are on record as having been a director for no less than EIGHT such small businesses in the last 14 years. Of those, only one company is still active, and that's Minotaur. Now, I'm hopeful that you get better each time, but your track record is not helping you out on this.
So as said I will leave it to, what i feel is a slight Kangaroo court, as no matter what I say will have little effect.
