s5 13bt can't hold idle

S5 13bt ca't hold an idle. I have to tap the gas pedal if I come to a complete stop to ensure the rpm won't go to zero. The car would stay on if I do this. I also took it for a 30 minutes drive. Boosts kick in at 4k rpm.

how do I fix this? My friend said I have an air leak in the throttle body. Can this be the problem? Engine currently have no o2 sensor or stock factory intake system.

Did you keep the stock MAF intake piece in? I swap mine out for a "newer" one and had the same problem.

Putting your 02 sensors back on would be ideal as well.

Good Luck

Did you buy that car that you were asking about what series engine it had in it? It looked like a huge mess.......

Is it running the factory ECU and AFM? If it is, you could have a faulty AFM like said above, or a bad vacuum leak due to shitty workmanship with the swap. I'd venture to say it's probably a vac leak, or leak in the charge piping. Find the leak post turbo and your issues should stop.

Sounds just like when I popped a pipe out of a coupler. But yeah that pic looked fairly hacked together. I also noticed only one alt belt. I'd suggest doubling that.

Thanks for responding. I think you guys are right, I forgot all about the maf. And yea I bought the car; I bargained it to $1000 with no backfees. I understand ill need to smog it on my own.

the good thing is that the engine is still running strong when I drove her home, pretty fast too. I am also able to pick up a jdm s5 turbo trans + axles + diff for $500 at an import garage shop.

on the other hand, I can always sell the s5 13bt and get an s4 tii engine. Omw to work now so once I get home, ill check too see what ecu it is running on.

I remember seeing this car on Craigslist a few months back and I wanted it, but I didn't have the funds then. Turns out this was the car the guy bought, so im happy its in my hands now. The guy sold it to me 'cos he wanted it to go towards someone who knows some rotary. He admitted he didn't know anything and was trying to get into the rotary scene, but found himself needing money for college.

It might just be a loose/blown apart charge pipe coupling like barkz said

yeah he bought it a couple months ago.

well today, i decided to tinker around after work and it seems the car idles now. took it for a drive around the neighbor hood and drove it hard just to see if it'll stop idling. it's holding idle now it seems, but i'll double check again tomorrow. i'm thinking it was the intake pipe when i removed it and installed it back. probably wasn't installed properly?

what i did today: adjusted the tps, sprayed some carb cleaner over hoses and engine parts and didn't see any idle changes. i also removed the intake pipe and my car wouldn't turn on. i installed it back and it started up while holding idle at 900rpm-1k rpm. let it idled for about 15 minutes, turned it off and started it up after 5 minutes, idled again for 5 more mins before going for the drive.
