Newb Question

Ok so maybe this is me just buggin out as my project gets closer to me actually installing the wolf and putting the motor together but...

do i need my stock s5 t2 harness and ecu?

Cause i was looking at the wiper motor today on my s4 n/a and it seems to be in the same harness as the ecu harness?

Basically what, if anything, do i need from my stock harness? and do i still need my stock ecu to run the stuff?

i figure i need the CAS connector, Alt Connector, TPS COnnector (switched to FD anyway) but now i think i might need more plus i have a bad feeling i need the stock ecu still as well.

someone clear this up, preferably by calling me a retard and telling me i didnt **** up majorly by selling my ecu and harness lol.

Having disected a S4 before you do have wires in the harness that are required for some minor equipment. The ECU you don't need and you can with the Mazda wiring diagram fix up your Aircon and wipers.... Which part of the harness did you sell?? There are many different harness in the car. If I remember correctly there was a thick cable to the Engine. A thin cable for the Ignition. A connector into the main Dash Harness. If you only got rid of the first 2 you should be right. Keep the dash Harness.

P.S. I didn't part with my harness at all I just weeded out the stuff I didn't need for my transplant. S4 into 929 Wagon

yea i was stupid and sold my harness lol. well at least i didnt need the ecu.

I didnt sell the dash harness either, I only sold what pl;ugs directly into the stock ecu the harness on the other side (connected to the engine bay fuse box etc) i still have all connected and everything.

After i sold the harness i was like "wait...**** i needed some of that" but it was too late.

but i dont need the ecu right?

The Wolf will do it all except the oil metering pump however you can swap the S5 one for a S4 mechanical or run premix. What version Wolf do you have? If it is a plugin then you need the whole engine harness.

P.S. did you download the latest versions of VB 2005 from MS?

Hey,

I've got Wolf 3d V4, I'm not running the OMP, and it's the Universal harness not the plug-and-play.

I just wanna make sure my wipers, and lights and ignition and bla bla will work.

And unfortunately ive admitted defeat in ever finding my copy of VB so i cant download the update. If it wasnt for this project i could go out and buy it again lol.

Hey Kevin the VB 2005 is free full install all you need to do is register it no strings attached.

The cable set that comes with the Wolf is ok. Where you disconnected your engine cable from your dash cable you will have access to all the power sources you will need. However I ran directly from the battery fused it and used relays to keep good voltages to my ECU.
You will also need S5 ( so I have been told)coils as the S4 ones don't work with the V4 Wolf (mine didn't work going from version 3 which did to version 4 which didn't)
I don't know how to tell the difference though as I have never seen both side by side.

ohh can you point me to a link for that vb 2005 then? its not missing anything, like its not a stripped down thing or anything?

Yea i dont have the car in front of me right now so i dont know what is left over in the car i just disconnected the wire from the ecu, yanked the stock ecu out and then yanked the harness from the engine bay out.

I'm actually running MSD Blaster SS coils, FD Ignitor, and MSD 6A with Magnecor 10mm wires, 890cc/1680cc injectors, SuperNOW! Rails, -6 Feed/-6 Return Earl's Fuel Lines, Earl's Fittings, Dual Walbros, Dual Barry Grant Fuel Filters, Aeromotive FPR 1:1 Rising Rate, T78, Stage2 Int/Stage3 Exh Ported 13bt, FD UIM/TB.... hmm that about wraps it up i guess plenty of other little **** not listed . My old setup is in my sig still tho.

Kevin it is the full version I am told.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/default.aspx
there is a few others too. C#, C++, J# and Web builder all free I guess that Microsoft is having problems moving people from VB6.

Does your Car have Hyper drive too! Wow! Your ignition will work fine. I wish I had the cash to do that to mine!
If you run into trouble with the wiring give me a email. I will PM you.

ill get to downloading that VB later today when i get out of work. Interesting to see what microsoft would be willing to giveaway for free .

As for my car, i wish I had the money to do it too LOL. I'm scraping by right now, and the car is just a shell sitting in my dad's shop right now (got it back from the painter/body guy, did a custom yellow paint with the FC2000 frontend). But i have pretty much all the parts sitting in my house right now just picking up the last bits, my injectors, some fuel fittings, bla bla. then once all thats together ive gotta layout what i need for my FMIC piping (have an NPR Large FMIC) and then i gotta order that and HOPEFULLY itll be ready for summer '06...it's been down since september/october of '04 sooo cant wait for that moment lol.

I'm sure i'll have plenty of questions for you about the wiring. I gotta find out where to get some connectors too, dont feel like buying a whole FD harness just for the TPS connector .

Thanks for the help, I'll be in touch as I'd definitely at leats like to try and chip in on that datalogger, altho it seems i missed the boat a bit lol.

thanks again,
kevin.

Kevin don't even bother with the standard TPS. I bought a VDO TPS for $60 Au about $45 US and fitted it at the back towards the firewall it is easy to get at and works great. I can send you pictures if you like.
