How do you have the tac wired up? From the tac output off the wolf? or off the coil? IIRC if you wire it off the coil its way off, and there is an 'adjustment' you can do inside the gauge cluster

tach isn't wired up yet. i was just reading that off the wolf screen.

iirc, the sensors were at something like 170 someodd *c. this is on the 20bshipping map that chris posted up earlier.

the thing bumps and chugs...just doesn't quite catch. i figured it was better to shut it down last night, rather than get flustered.

thanks

hm, cranking and reading way off?

I know when my car is very very cold, and it doesnt turn over quick enough right away, my hand controler throws out random rpms, generaly faily low although ive seen random highrpms thrown out before. What was the rpm's it was giving you.

What CAS are you using? is the 20b cas similar to a 13b cas? i have no experiance in the matter personaly.

What was your cranking volts?

sensors are 170.. thats diff. Are you useing the wolf sensors? How did you ground them?
Also the calibration map for your air temp is diff than mine, im using wolf sensors with the wolf calibration map.

it was throwing out between 1000 and 1200 rpm while cranking.
i'm using the stock 20b sensors

i'll keep pluggin' away at it till i figure something out. i was just curious if maybe the setup could be why the rpm's aren't reading correctly.

wow. flooded? i got 1k once and it was flooded as flooeded can be, just a random guess

the stock 20b sensors are probably the reason your getting the weird temps. i dont know of maps for stock mazda sensors, id suggest throwing in the gm or delco sensors (dont rember what they are called)

The setup could be a problem. What does the inside of the CAS look like? is it the same as a 13b cas? Im assuming the settings from chris's map would have the correct settings, however its worth checking

Also, with your temp's saing 170 or whaever it was, make sure your air and fuel compensation maps are disabled, if not its probably throwing a bunch of uneeded fuel in the mix

i thought the shipping map from chris was for the stock sensors?

i'll email chris and see what the story is. there's other work to do before i put too much time into what's probably a very minor problem, so i'm not worried about it.

thanks for the help.

thanks, but we're using the stock sensors... so i'm trying to decide whether i should do the correction maps myself, or just get new sensors...

Page 2:

"One thing that we have heard several times from customers is that the Air
and Water Temperatures both show -64 ēC.

This can only occur if the calibration tables for these two sensors have
been made to be -64 ēC at all sensor voltages. You might also notice that
the Batter Voltage is 0V.

The most common way for this to occur is a null (zero) Map has been loaded
into the ECU. If you use a blank Memory Cartridge, or if you accidentally
use the PC Software and load in a Map of all zeros, all of the sensor
calibrations will be incorrect.

To rectify this situation you must load on a Map that has the correct
calibration tables for the Water and Air Temp Sensors that you are using.
This will also correct the battery voltage and all of the other parameters
that must be set-up before you start tuning."
