so the story goes,
i got a freshly rebuilt motor and i needed some extra hand to put it in. i had a couple guys from work come help out. they are mechanically inclined so figured it wouldnt hurt. they swapped most of the parts from old block to new block while i worked on some other things. everything went fairly smoothly.
got the motor fired up and it wouldnt go into gear. i shut off the car and it shifts fine. turn it back on. same thing. i search and search and all the posts say it could be every part of the clutch system. well only one way to find out.
i come home from work and start tearing down the exhaust, and unbolting everything. the car is on 4 jackstands and im pulling the tranny out by myself with an old tire to catch it before it hits the ground. all the bolts were out and the tranny needed to be heavily persuaded to come out. it ends up punching me in the nose on its way out. my nose is bleeding and swollen.
i clean up and start unbolting the clutch. turns out, the 2 4x4 guys had bolted the disc in backwards... awesome. nothing like a 5 hour fix for a mistake.
moral of the story: don't be stupid about moving heavy things and double check the work of the "help"
