For anyone coming out, last year the hotels had to drop rates close to the show because of fallout. Some pretty good deals could be had close in if you knew where to look.
This Fall and Winter will be the most affordable Vegas has been in years, so even if you cant get into show itsellf, it would be worth it with all of the car stuff going on. I had to be on the road last year, but missed out on some good meets from what I hear. Check with vegasrotary.com, they should have something going on as well. I havent had a chance to hang with them, but they meet at the In n Out on Sahara quite often. I just got the classic vehicle plates for my REPU, so look forward to bringing it out.
As 2cute said, unless you can get your name on the list for the clubs get ready to spend your night standing in a long line.
I guess I am spoiled, when I have to go on the road my company pays for setup and tear down.
How many members here will actually be at the show?

Unfortunately (fortunately?) I'll be there again this year. Hopefully I'll at least run into some cutie this time.

Oh yeah, having an exhibit company come out and do all the dirty work for you is the best! We had that at my last job but we were still in charge of all the detailed set up...took us 3 whole days!

But if you think tear down is a pain in the butt you should volunteer for set up this year! Like I mentioned one time it took us 3 whole days to get the displays right (we didn't even touch the booth...the exhibit company did that) but only 50 minutes to pack them up. I think that must've been a record!

Leaving town early?
Just found out I won't be going for the first time in a long time! It's been hectic at the office and they decided they need someone capable to stay behind and hold down the fort.
Who says the economy is bad?!
I was kinda surprised at first but thought about it later on...it could be a blessing in disguise? I'm going to miss catching up with my industry homies, though.

There are no "tickets" per se, but you do need a "BADGE" to get in.
To get a badge, you need credentials.
I've heard that it's actually getting harder to get in since a few years ago - SEMA knows there's too many bullshit people getting in, so they were trying to make it harder.
I dunno what kinda deal ARD_T2 has, but I only had an allocation of 2 badges this year; any extras required the whole mess of company stationary, etc. to show proof.
I haven't gone since 2003 - 2004, so it's been a while.
Back then, this cars started to spill over to outside, and anyone could go check the outside stuff out.
You will absolutely not get in without a badge - there are tons of "ushers" standing around at all the entrances and exits - they will stop you if you try and walk in without a badge.
Some shop giving away "tickets" thing...if SEMA gets word of this, they will ban these idiots quick.
SEMA stresses heavily that this is a TRADE-ONLY show that is not open to the public.
I dunno what you guys are expecting, but ever since 9/11, it's been really sedate.
I'm sure it'll be more so for obvious reasons this year.
More info?

Funny, there's usually a big thread about this every year, but I've only found this one so far.
