What to do in Vegas during SEMA?
I live in Michigan and am thinking of taking a vacation to Las Vegas during the SEMA show at the end of October. Unfortunately I cannot get tickets to the event, but I would imaging there is a lot of car-related goings-on in the city during that time. Can anyone give me some advice on if I should head out there, or will there be nothing more automotive related than usual outside of the SEMA show building?
Thanks

honestly unless you are going to the show and are involved in the industry it wont be any different than a normal trip to vegas for you. well aside from all the clubs will be closed for the private industry parties.
tao gets closed at least one of the days risque gets closed at least on thrusday usually for the pro-motion party....west coast customs usually takes over a club. hard rock gets taken by falken a lot of the time.....the list goes on.
and dont think your getting into any of those without your name on the list.
i go every year and its cool because of who i go with. but not knowing anyone and trying to get out there for the parties and stuff it wont happen.
oh and for the record the show takes up the entire convention center...it has had to expand every year. last i heard it had spilled over into surrounding hotels too......
oh and BTW its first week of nov not last week of oct like it normally is.

I usually just go straight back to my room and sleep. I'll make it out to a few events if I need to but that's about it. To me it's overly crowded sausage fest, skanky women and way more alcohol than I need. I'm so over SEMA and Vegas in general.
A word of advice, like 2 Cute said, don't go there during SEMA if you can avoid it. Hotel prices drop and seats for shows free up the week after.

well maybe not the show so much but vegas for sure and the parties definitely
If he's that determined to come to Vegas, I'd say he should be able to score some tickets, maybe from a Performance Shop in his area, that has a couple extra, or is not going to be able to attend ? Even if they're not going they usually know a vendor that can hook them / you up... if there's a will there's a way... And if he has had a Rotary Powered vehicle for any period of time, he's done more than enough business to be on a first name basis with more than one business

and do you have any idea how many people ask the big manufacturers to go under their name?
my my, it seems like the general consensus is in! I was thinking that alot of car enthusiests went to Vegas during SEMA without tickets becasue there would be so many other things going on that did NOT require special access...i guess i was way off on that one!

i think you totally missed the point of the SEMA show.
its not a car show and its not a show for enthusiasts.
its a TRADE SHOW for the performance industry.
which is why you need to have a pass to get in and why its not open to the public
