OMG LS2!!! How much did that cost in total??? I want one!!!! You need to show me that car too .

:o You should come and race my friend with the single turbo and say you have the LS1 and its completely stock That'll get him to shut up about the "its not a rotary" argument

Have either of you v8 guys tracked your cars? How are they in the twisties?

Here was ment to mean the West Section.

Fine, dissolve all the work done by barotary. It's up to you. It does get 13,000 hits a day, people read it, people sign up everyday, and more and more people come to the meets everytime. Yeah, start another group to squash the one that is just getting started.

Don't get all pissy now. Be reasonable.

It's all good having multiple groups of people together, I'm not trying "squash" anything. All I'm trying to do here is to have some sort of structure and organization that we can approach vendors with so we can harness more tangible benefits. Which is extremely hard to do with "we get 13,000 hits a day, people read it, people sign up everyday, and more and more people come to the meets everytime."

Looking at all the high-ticket JDM stuff you're selling, you probably don't need any discounts and could afford most of stuff you need right out of your pocket, but not every RX-7 owners are as fortunate as you are.

Also there is no organized group activity in southbay area anyways. BArotary mainly consists of SF crowd and NorCal 7 mainly consists of Sac town crowd.

^ Several of us at BaRotary have connections with wholesale already and can get stuff for pretty good prices on things without having to form another club. We've held a several successful meets already and I personally successfully hosted a group buy on mazdaspeed apparell all the way from New Zealand with several thousand $ of merchandise. So itt is a successful way for local guys to communicate, even a few socal guys got in it. Just because most people just lurk and don't post on BaRotary doesnt mean they dont exist.

kim its cool that your doing these weekly meets, i have no problem with it. hell i want to join you guys and check out the rides and meet new rotorheads. the only thing really holding me back is the time frame at which you hold your event (i would be stuck in 880 traffic from oakland to SJ).

i would have to admit BAR is moving slow, but its not even a year old yet. since it is a bay area exclusive site. we should take advantage of the "free" web space that is available there. but yea, i dont want to have a divided 7 norcal nation. we are all brothers and we need to stick together. ive met alot of great people through BAR and i want to continue it.

I recently installed a hot Crower cam and Edelbrock Tarantual manifold on my ‘69 Chevelle 396. The car runs great, but I have a noted substantial drop in manifold vacuum, to the extent that my power brake performance is affected. Is this normal?

For better structure and organization, I think instead of making another forum, you shouldve just suggested your ideas and thoughts in "site suggestions and support" section in barotary.com. Just my opinion, im too lazy to jump from forum to forum and I think two is enough.

Hey I go to sjsu, and we start on the 25th.
Jay I thought you just bought new RT615s? Let me know about the handling
Anyone know what this is? (http://www.rx7.org/)

"The Bay Area Rx-7 Club has been in existence for over 20 years now. Established in 1981, our membership is drawn from the greater San Francisco Peninsula and east bay metropolitan area. We also have members from outside the immediate area. There are presently about 100 members in the club. The common denominator is ownership and/or interest in the Rx-7 and RX-8. The club is open to all owners of Rx-7's, RX-8's and rotary engine enthusiasts. "

I havent been able to find out anything about BAR... When are the meets? How do you sign up? do you just join the forum or something?

I second that opinion except that I think ONE IS ENOUGH. I'm too lazy to check both forums when one is barely active.....That's why I wanted to incorporate the idea of mailing list, so I don't have to check the forums to know what's going on in the bay area rx7 scene.

Honestly, I'm down for whatevers, but really would like to see some structure rather than it being, "several" guy with "connections" opening up a group buy whenever they feel like it. Hell, I liked the idea of barotary, that's why I joined, but I don't know....I guess I'll just have to get used to the lack of participation.

I dont see what the problem is with starting a new rx7 club if the other one is mostly inactive. It's not like we're forbidding people to participate in both clubs right? It could just be a club with the more active members when the barotary club isnt doing anything. I think we should still set something up. Theres my 2 cents.

Sorry, I meant two meaning the rx7club.com and barotary.com.

So you want two inactive groups? You know there's already a bay area yahoo group, it gets less activity than barotary. Mostly updates from a member's move to Texas and forwarded messages from other lists.

How is it not doing anything? Theres at least one planned meet per month, sometimes more depending on what's going on and who's planning.

No, this group meets weekly, so we would be more active. I dont want to argue about it, I just wanted to state my opinion. All I'll say is that this group is more local to me, and is more frequent, so its also more convenient and easier to go to than if it were in SF. There would be more participation because as jay's been saying, if you miss one, you can just go the next week, rather than waiting a whole month. I dont think its a bad idea at all.

I dont think there's a problem with starting a new rx7 club. Its not a bad idea, but for better structure you guys should suggest a "South Bay" section in barotary.com rather than create your own group. The rest of the bay area will also have a chance to know where the local hangout spots are and what we're all about. My 2 cents

Justin, seriously bro. What's it to you?

Are you the owner of the forum? Are you afraid of losing traffic or something? Why are getting so territorial?

The message you're sending out right now is:
"BArotary.com is in charge of bay area rx-7 owners."

So far, we've had 6 meets and that's just as active as barotary in 6 months. And seriously, come on.....Newark Tapioca meet? That's a damn ricer car show for all cars, not rx7 owners' club get together.

If it's just redundancy that you don't want, why was barotary even formed? You can get any possible technical and "legitimate" questions answered on rx7club.com. You don't need barotary. Simple. Right? You obviously don't think so. Otherwise you wouldn't have joined barotary.com.

We're just trying to establish what most of existing norcal/bay area rx7/rotary clubs are lacking: personal connection and interaction amongst/between people living within geographical proximity. Which I think is the whole point of forming local chapters and groups.

I thought about joining that, but don't know anyone from that club and I don't like the idea of sending $30 for membership fee when there's no stated, expressed or implied benefit in return for me on their website. Maybe after I learn more about them, I'll think about it.

Great idea, but I have an odd feeling that somehow we'll be severely restricted in thing we can do. Also we can't just formalize a club under an existing name when other members in that group doesn't want to be a part of it. If we can work something out, I'm down for that too. Why not? It'll make my life easier.

I spent a lot of time planning and implementation, along with many other people trying to get everything to work.

So far, we've had 6 meets and that's just as active as barotary in 6 months. And seriously, come on.....Newark Tapioca meet? That's a damn ricer car show for all cars, not rx7 owners' club get together.
There have been more than 6, those were just the monthly official ones, there have been a number of side ones. No one is stopping anyone from planning others. There was one last week, done via phone in fact. Wes/Scratchjunkie did planned it and we just went out for ramen.

If it's just redundancy that you don't want, why was barotary even formed? You can get any possible technical and "legitimate" questions answered on rx7club.com. You don't need barotary. Simple. Right? You obviously don't think so. Otherwise you wouldn't have joined barotary.com.
Because this site is so screwed up, everyone acting like idiots and telling everyone to search instead of providing clear answers.

We're just trying to establish what most of existing norcal/bay area rx7/rotary clubs are lacking: personal connection and interaction amongst/between people living within geographical proximity. Which I think is the whole point of forming local chapters and groups.
Thusly doing exactly the samething that was setup just 9 months ago.
