Then you should appreciate the work that goes into trying to organize something like this.

I'm with you 100% on this one.

Well, come out to the weekly meets and we can work on it to integrate the whole thing. Just criticizing everything we're trying to do isn't gonna do anything other than making you look like an *** in the eyes of people that actually do make time to come out and participate in our weekly meets.

Yeah, and posting on SRO is going to not attract ricers.

Over 10 RX-7s attended, plus a few RX-8s, none of them were riced out, and it wasn't a ricer car show, at least on our side of the lot. I don't see how that isn't a rotary meet up.

Come on now, there's more to a group of people than just the cars we own. Sure we own same cars, but so what? It's not the car itself that brings people together, but its rather each individuals' passion [for the cars we own] that forms solidarity and helps us build personal bonds between each other.
A bit contradictory, don't you think?

I understand what youre trying to do, but dont think the other guys arent trying to a part of it. Three of my FD's are in the shop and my other friend NeedFD is on vacation in Thailand (hopefully he comes back w/ some FD goodies for me). Like Wes said, you need to also schedule a time frame thats more convenient for the east bay and north bay members.

Whats wrong with organizing a get together ourselves? Neofreak, you are giving off a feeling that we HAVE to be approved by BAR in order to meet. I dont see whats wrong with just hanging out with people of similar interests. Its a get together, not like one crew vs. another crew over territory or some pre-school "my club is better than your club" deal. I'd join BAR too if I could just get some more information. If you have "other" meets aside from the official ones then how do new members find out about them?

Personally I say the more meets the better, the weekly ones are cool because you have an opportunity to get to know people better and remember their names and faces. I really liked the huge meets from a few years ago, like the dyno days and whatnot. Anyway, I'll be there tomorrow with a few of my friends coming, hopefully another heavily modded FD and an insane Type-R. We'll see.

That was not my intention, I was merely pointing out that there is no reason to go back to 1995 with a yahoo group when there is already an established site for discussion.

I'd join BAR too if I could just get some more information. If you have "other" meets aside from the official ones then how do new members find out about them?
Go to meets, chit chat on the board, chit chat on AIM, there are occasionally group chats that would even fill in the time between weekly meets, they've been doing fine between monthly ones.

I really liked the huge meets from a few years ago, like the dyno days and whatnot.
Don't forget who planned and implemented all those dyno days too. The first time I footed the bill for pretty much all the food, no one brought any. Second time, a couple people skipped out on paying for their runs. Guess who had to end up paying for them? (this is off topic anyway)

Ryan is a buddy of mine and I wanted to contribute to his website, so I posted on SRO. So what? Didn't know you actually street raced....

Just take it slow and it's alright.

Anyways, Justin...whatever floats your boat, I don't care. For your sake, just think of it as a rx7club.com's subforum meet. Happy now? No offense taken here and I hope vica verca. I'll see you around, either at San Jose GTG or the monthly barotary meet one of these days.

i think neofreak is just trying to say that instead of making a mailing group or something like that just hop on the barotary forum and use that to communicate between bay area rotary enthusiasts, its already established and ready to go. The weekly meets can still continue and we can start and invite people to any meets we want on BA theres no weird rules saying whose boss. Having another "club" will just make life more complicated (more sites to see whats going on). So why not have the people from the weekly meets join barotary and communicate via the best if not only active bay area rotary forum?

Actually for the lazy people the mailing list is the easiest :P. That way you dont have to go searching through forums, you just get a message through email. I think that was the original purpose.

I still check barotary.com everyday. I know kim307 still posts this GTG there. Don't worry neofreak, a bunch of us would still join you guys at barotary when there's an event. I think the south bay people are just trying to get the most out of their summer by meeting weekly. For most of the members, school is about to start. I know how they feel coz I used to be one of them.

I agree that most of the norcal clubs (general) are concentrated in the north bay area parts like SF, Alameda, and Sacramento. Just call us southbay RX's a "niche" of the BA Rotary club...mmmkay?

GREAT turnout. A lot of nicely modded FD's. 2 LS1 FD's, 1 Single Turbo FD, a sweet RX-2, and a lot more, I'll let the pics talk. Hopefully next week will be even bigger.

Nice pics, Neil.
Here's the ones I took. Thanks again Jay for putting these meets together. It sure is cool to watch them grow each week.

I love how these meets are progressing. I especially like how the people alternate from week to week so its always someone or something new to see or hear about. I think next time you guys should feel free to invite some of your friends, the more the merrier.

That's a really cool little car, Alvin. The engine was so frickin' clean that I though it was new(until I overheard you say it was rebuilt). I'm bummed that the pic I took of it turned out so blurry and crappy. I only ended up keeping about 1/3 of my pics tonight.

heh, I was just walking and clicking. :/
