Wed. 8/17: San Jose GTG - Krispy Kreme

AUGUST 17th, Wednesday.

Our 7th meet to-date and I can see a formal norcal rx club in the making. We had a blast last week. After the dinner we went to go weigh in our cars at a truck scale in Santa Clara. I measured my car out at 2880lbs which is slightly heavier than stock advertised 2868lbs for touring.

7:00 - 8:00PM
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
18578 Prospect Road
Saratoga, CA 95070
Google Map

8:00 -
Lori's Diner
19930 Stevens Creek Blvd
Cupertino, CA 95014
Google Map

IMPORTANT REMINDER: After the initial meet up we will head off to a nearby restaurant for some good food. Feel free to bring your friends and a healthy appetite. Enjoy your meal with other rx-7 owners, share your car experiences and your future plans for your ride.

This week's meet will be our first attempt to organize a formal club for norcal rx-7/8's. I know there's already a norcal 7 club in existence, but seems like their members are concentrated in sac area.

I've talked to one of the members of that group and we will support each group and collaborate on bigger events and meets.

There's no need to reinvent the wheel so we will use what socal7s use for their method of communication. It's little more private than a forum and more focused to the groups members.

I'm down for that after dinner! Good find!

Note: Please do sign up for the mailing list, it can only help you. I'm trying to see if I can get a club discount for Kumho tires and mounting/balancing labor. More people we have, more convincing we become.

Because that board is dead usually. There's a new post every 3-4 days on that board.

And come on now, I know everyone can use some discounted tire prices and labor prices. You can participate simultaneously on both groups, it's gonna consist of same members anyways. But I'm just trying to organize something so we appear as a legitimate club, not just bunch of people on a internet forum. Not much lobbying powere if all the members are ghosts.

Bay Area RX-7 Club has been around for who knows how long and there are almost no tangible or monetary benefits as a member of that group. Yeah, i know that's not the point, but it sure would be nice!

Really...if any of those existing groups want to start leading the way, I have no problem folding everything and just following the lead. But chances are....highly unlikely.

Justin, I guarantee you this won't hurt you at ALL. It could only benefit you.

Jay, action is exactly what is needed to organize the Bay Area/Nor Cal RX-7 owners into an actual club. We need organized, and active community members like yourself to lead the way. I got some more ideas and info I'd like to run by you too, we'll talk some more at the next meet.

Hey Charles, if you're still interested I can see if my friend will let me borrow his buffer and we can clean up your FD this Sunday.

Golfland arcades sound fun, I just hope their parking lots are safe .

^ Sweet deal!!! W00Hoo I need it sooo badly lol. I'll be up for the golfland run.. looks like I wont be able to make the meet (I'll be off around 8:30) . I might be sending a few new ppl there, I already left them a message. (I might be able to fake sickeness one last time :-P). Do you guys know what racing games they have at golfland? .

Jay, would you be interested in racing my friend with a single turbo FD? He really wants to see how fast his would be against yours, and he's also not much of a fan of the ls1 swap.... haha. It might be a way to get him out to the meet as well. He said he showed up last time at the krispy kreme around 8:15 last time... haha. We need to leave a sign or something for people who show up late.

Hope to see you guys on Wed.

^rofl. I say just do it to bring him out. You're cars pretty damn fast His is probably faster, but itd be a good experiment to see, you've probably dropped around the same amount of $ to get to where you are, only you have more power potential due to the stock fact

kim307, You need to put heads and a cam on then you would take 99% of the single turbo guy out there on the street(pump gas). I will have to bring out my ls2 402 93 rx7 out there sometime. I was the guy that was at your house to pick up your fc parts car.

For one, I honestly doubt it. I think Jimlab has more posts than the entire forum combined.

Two, I think there are several reasons why these online communities are successful as they are: 1) For the reasons you pointed out - legimate discussions and debates on your experiences/information, 2) Experience the culture and life that one cannot experience on their own in their unique surroundings, and 3) Place where people with similar interest and passions can gather and share it with each other.

Reason 1 is what brings people in the first place. They usually are having problems, or are trying to buy/sell stuff for their specific needs(*your favorite part of this forum). Reasons 2 and 3 are what keeps people coming back and remain a part of these online communities.

Come on now, there's more to a group of people than just the cars we own. Sure we own same cars, but so what? It's not the car itself that brings people together, but its rather each individuals' passion [for the cars we own] that forms solidarity and helps us build personal bonds between each other.

Like I said, if you just want to come out and check out the cars with your small click of friends, take pictures, gawk at cars, you're more than welcome to do so. But I'm just trying to gather and form a group of friends that we can kick it with and just talk cars.

Honestly, maybe some of you more established bay area members feel like you guys being ousted by some newbies that just got on the forums.....TRUST ME. I won't do that. Once we get this organized, we'll make sure that your senority is maintain within the club.
