I like the points system better, if weights are allocated appropriately. This gives us a lot more avenues in which to compete in.

 

Ya I really like the point system as well but how many points should a street port be? bridge and all the other ones? Something to have a balance of course

edit: how could we regulate this? checking every car before they go out will be super time consuming. honor system?

By the way I want to make this clear. It will be time trails (time attack) not wheel to wheel racing.

Honor system and a group of 3 people post-race tech the top 5 finishers. And add points accordingly for 13b and 20b.

 

Cool! Thanks for you input does anyone have anything to add to this or any other ideas? So what do you guys want like 3 classes (street, modified, unlimited)? How could we make it fair when 13b's go up against 12a's or maybe even a 20b na vs a 13bt?

We cant have six classes we probably wont get enough people out to have this many to compete. So we have to group these together some how and this is not even including porting.

there should also be a final comp of all the classes. that would be pretty sick to see N/A vs Turbo on the track and how different the different set ups react to each corner.

 

have the top 3 of each class in one final group at the very end? sounds cool to me i would actually like to see it maybe the modified class has better set up cars than a unlimited who knows

What do you guys think about running Redline Time Attack style classes? Street is barely any mods with interior with street tires. Modified quite a bit of mods with no interior and R comps?

Hey you guys this is a discussion please just post. You can not be wrong! We just need ideas and it's been mainly zerox7 and I going over this. We have come up with a idea of having 3 classes.

N/A Street Class
Turbo Street Class
Unlimited

What do you guys consider a street car? Street ports or no porting at all. Minor modifications like exhaust, intake, and headers? Street cars definitely can not run R comps they must drive on street tires. And what about aero? Do you think a street car could run a GT wing because in RTA rookie and street class are allowed to run a GT Wing I believe no bigger than 70mm. Unlimited anything goes.

 

BTW just a heads up..

this is not just limited to RX-7s,but all Rotaries (rx3s, rx2, REPU's, R100, rx5s, rx-8s, etc)

Also

any rotary powered vehicle would be allowed to compete(Datsuns 510s, ae86 corrollas and older, Miata's, kit cars, etc)


Anything Rotary powered is fair game.

but depding on the modifications and extent of it along with the hp, and set ups etc...

each one will be diveded into the street turbo- N/A and unlimited classes.

why dont we just classify by hp range with in each other class or just have it classed by hp, i mean i know im new to all this and i throw this idea out there humbly, however i think it would make more sense to class by hp just so it creates fair you know? there may be peeps out there with lil to no mods and he can compete with others alike.. etc. i mean that way when you have a class of hp it comes down to driver skill.

there is more to it than just hp and to try and categorize people by that would be tough because i don't know if everyone will be honest. i have never taken my car to a dyno so i personally don't even know how much i am putting out so that might be a issue as well no body really knows

The answer is easy. Have each participant do a qualifying lap, and class accordingly. Only problem with this is the potential for "sandbagging"

 

^ I wouldn't have a problem with that, but there might be prizes on the line so if you know you are fairly quick you might just not push it as hard during qualifying so you could be grouped with people who are slower than you. I thought doing groups similar to Redline Time Attack would be simpler but it's not up to me it's what we all agree on as a community.

 

have them show proof hp gains. it may be a little out of their way but in order to regulate that would be the only way. everyone has to bring their dyno charts

 

The idea of running an all rx7 comp appears doable. For organization sake, why dont we just tag along with say "corolla" drivers and join them on their track day. This seems easier at first just so we Rotary guys get an idea of how to set things up. Being that were all privateer's here, it's unlikely we'll have all the adequate funding to run a smooth flowing "competition" with all these different classes.

Just as an example...me and 13b Cookie Monster were invited by the MR-2 guys as a tag along to their track day. In fact, some even played with the idea of seeing how well the rotary goes up against the toyota head to head.

Overall, my point is...as a collective, we start small..and work towards a larger idea and bigger function later as we get more experienced. What yall think?

 

how about using scca class specifications... csp. SM, c stock and so forth

 

I agree with starting small but I kind of want to start with only rotary's for the time being. We will be getting help from SpeedVentures. They will host regular HPDE events and at the end of the day it will be set up like time attack for all the rotary's that are competing. So it's not so much of a rotary event it's just a competition at the end of the day so we can share the track with all sorts of cars the entire day but at the end of the day it's open for rotary's only.

 

thats a good idea, we cant always allow rotary pride stop us from learning.
