Wankel Challenge
Wankel Challenge
Hey I was just talking to my cousin and he owns a ae86 and he is attending a 4AG Challenge at Streets of Willow then later to ButtonWillow. I was wondering if any of you guys would even be interested to see if we could some how start up a 13B Challenge or just a event where a lot of Rx7's or 13B powered cars can go and track together and have some sort of prize or bragging rights? I don't know just throwing it out it's pretty late and I am bored. Just thought it would be cool to have a 13B Challenge and have it through out the year all over California not just one track.

Close thing to it is MazFest.
Regardless, there has been conversations in the past about moving 7Stock to a track location so something like this could be made a side event. Maybe some day.

If there is more interest I could try my best talking to some people and see what we can do. I just thought it would be cool if we had something similar like the s2000 challenge or the 4AG Challenge. Just another reason to build the hell out of our cars =]
Just talked to Dave from speed ventures and they are trying to develop a number of series and they had Rx7's in mind. So hopefully some of you guys start posting on what you guys have in mind for this series or challenge.
I think it would be nice if there were some different classes.
Motor type makes the most sense to me. You don't want a crazy 400hp fd driving in the same race as a n/a 12a fb... unless it was like le mans where all the classes drove the same race. Maybe by aspiration or hp?
Either way, it would be a great time. Someone should really keep on this. Im sure alot of people would be interested.
Yes of course different classes! But how could we regulate this? Different classes by porting and turbo or na? How would they know if you had a street port or a race port? Here is the point system for S2000 Challenge maybe we could take some of their ideas
Points System
Participants can choose their top 8 out of the 11 events during the year to contribute to their total score. The points system will be adapted from the Formula 1 Series:
1st: 10
2nd: 8
3rd: 6
4th: 5
5th: 4
6th: 3
7th: 2
8th: 1
Classification System
After receiving feedback from the S2KI community from previously posted threads, the Speedventures advisory committee did some additional analysis, and finally agreed upon a points system that most accurately reflects current track attendance and places participants in apples-to-apples classifications. biggrin.gif
Street Class
0 to <=5 points
Modified Class
5> to <=11 points
Unlimited Class
11> points
AERO
0.25 = air dam bumper, any add-on lip (including OEM), canards, wind deflector
0.50 = splitter
0.25 = diffuser
1.25 = level 1 wing (CR, APR200 low mount, Mugen)
2.25 = level 2 wing (Voltex, J's, APR300, APR200 high mount, C-West)
TIRE/WHEEL
0.75 = level 1 street tires (RT615, RS2, MX, CSC3, PS2)

3.50 = R-comp (RA1, R888, NT01, A048, PSC)
1.00 = 235~265 front tires
0.5 = 9" wheel or wider and/or widening front/rear track with wheels or spacers lower than OEM offsets (front +55, rear +65, not counting camber effect)
POWER
0.25 = non-oem intake system or any mods to OEM intake (including filter, snorkel, or piping)
0.25 = non-oem header
0.25 = test pipe
0.25 = cat-back exhaust

2.50 = coilover suspension
DRIVETRAIN
0.50 = clutch type LSD
0.75 = final drive
WEIGHT REDUCTION
0.25 = softtop removal (but you must run a hardtop). Note: Penalty for soft-top removal waived if you have a 4pt roll-bar, 5-6pt harness, and an approved race seat. Interior removal on installation of safety equipment are not penalized.
0.25 = passenger seat removal
