Tuning question

I have made all the preparations and and excited to have my power FC and FD tuned to perfection. I have a question though. Since getting the Power FC and since it was never tuned well, I have had to put the stock ECU back on the car to pass CA smog every 2 years. Does Steve tune down in the ranges where the car is run for smog? Do i have to keep switching out ECUs just to get the right AFRs to pass emissions? I think they run it on a dyno in second gear, but not sure the rpm. Maybe someone else knows this. To review, I have:

- PowerFC
- Stock engine with non-sequential turbo mod (stock engine less than 10k miles, and fairly new j-spec turbo). The thing is in great shape and no issues at all.
-Downpipe, high flow cat and exhaust
-Air pump IS installed, and the car always passes visual.
-Larger intercooler, radiator, and oil coolers
-Lighter flywheel

It would be a dream come true to have a kick-rump tuning on the power fc that at the lower rpms and pressure levels would also pass a tailpipe test.... Tell me it's true!

I have no problem there. I place a capacitor of the correct size on the check engine circuit. When you turn on the ignition the light stays on about the right time and then goes out. Looks perfectly normal.

The electrical engineering degree paid off!

In fact, it was in place the last time it was smog tested and passed with flying colors. I also was far below the fail limits. I had a new cat, which did not hurt.

Alright, everyone. I hope everyone has a good three day weekend. A reminder that this sunday (jun 1st) is the deadline for the deposit. I need to get the deposit by/on that date. I will drop the unpaid off and start pulling from the standby. I am starting to make the schedule as well. If you don't tell me what you want, I will put you into a random slot. Besides Pomanferrari, would anyone mind tuning on friday afternoon/evening?

PM me or post it on th thread if there are any questions, comments, and /or concerns.

maybe you might want to tow your car directly to the tuning facility. it might be your safest bet. instead of paying someone $200+ to get your car going and driving it to fremont, the car might not be safe enough to drive. you should spend that $200+ toward the towing fee and let steve wrench on it since he is the resident expert on haltech....just my 2 cents

i can do that but i didnt think steve kan would spend the time to troubleshoot and fix my car while others are waiting for their cars to get tuned.

i suggest you to contact steve and tell him your situation. steve is a pretty good guy. he helped alot us out during various tuning sessions in san jose. we had a guy who was in the same situation as yourself. he towed his car from oakland to san jose and steve started from scratched. he was able to tune his car but his injectors failed on him. if you had done all the wirings correctly, it should not take steve that long. he probably has a base base map already with a similar setup.

i heard this guy is fast so even if i am on stand by #4, he can still squeeze me in. should i change my stock 550 injectors to 1000cc or will he be able to tune it stock? if he can tun it stock, how many pounds boost can 550cc make? what injectors should i get? i ordered 1000cc from venom but i heard they suck. i didnt try them yet but i dont want to ruin my 3000 mile motor. what brand injectors should i get and where can i get it from? how much boost would i get for 1000cc safely?

i would definitely confirm that with steve. he would know what size injectors to use. he is a pretty fast tuner. a majority of the tunes are re-tuning so it should go pretty fast.

My car's already been tuned by Steve, so I would imagine that it wouldn't take terribly long for my car...no guarantees obviously, but whoever's on standby on Sat should have a decent chance.

BTW, if anybody's interested in a used RX7Store resonated midpipe w/ an additional o2 sensor bung for tuning, I can bring it to the tuning session. I've had it up for sale for a while at https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=696927.

Ok, guys. The deadline has past. The listed has been updated with the status. Coolant_leak is tentative and would not be definite until the end of the week. If he is unable to attend, fcbeast is next. ...I have also post the schedule as well. The tuning will start at 10 am. Each slot is schedule for 2 hours. Almost half of the tuning will be re-tuning/fine tuning so it should not take the whole 2 hours. Be aware you might have to come early. Any questions, comment and/or concerns??
