State reffed...help
I never get hazzled by Rampart/Northeast Divisions, Glendale and Burbank. In fact, while getting gas (before the LA 7stock caravan), LAPD gang unit in a Suburban gave me the stare but props at the end. Batang L.A. FTW
its not a gamble. if you aint ******* around, then its how you represent yourself and be sure to show pride of ownership (blood, sweat and tears and lots of heines LOL) . Be sure to have your classic insurance handy which is a proof that the car is driven only on special occassions and less than 2,000 miles/year. Unlike the rookies (example is Pacman-Sean Penn-fresh off the academy), veteran cops know whats up.

but i'm hoping to have a street legal gt35r fc in cali :o
i'm not bsing either
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg5036.pdf
but yea state ref does suck dude, Been there done that...I'll do everything in my power to never end up there again unless it's to certify the car
I have to disagree with that. my buddy with his FB with SP/48IDA got popped, paid the fee and sold it 2 years later. New owner was able to transfer title without any issues.
i'm just jealous that i have to live in the desert, not jealous that i have to deal with the BS that is california emissions. it's nice having a perfectly legal 300+WHP 80's car. the REPU was going to be my toy in cali since it was pre-smog but now it's doesn't matter, i could drop in a new fuel injected engine without even having to have it sent to the ref for the swap. at a few points when they were heavy into sending people to the ref a few years ago i thought about swapping my TII back to near stock, glad i don't have to worry about it anymore.

i was in 3rd gear and supposedly it was too loud, so i thought i was just getting a fix it ticket but they told me to pop my hood and then the fun began, for them in this case
...ah, when i got my reff ticket i went to pay the fine... the stuoopid newb officer wrote the wrong violation code. The ticket was re-printed (without the reff required sign off) and my cousin who is a CHP signed it off. I went to court and showed proof of correction and payed $40
but.... not everyone will be as lucky as me. My bail was $600... or u can make it stock and get it signed up by the ref and just pay a few bux for the inspection. If you decide to make it stock and get it signed off keep the reff papers with you in your cr so if you get pulled over again they wont hassle you. My cousin is a CHP and he just took the "street race task force class" and he said there is not one thing in there that has to do with rotaries so dont believe any CHP's who tell you they know rotaries, you shouldve asked him to point out your valve cover
