SoCal 's monthly San Bernardino rotary meet: Second Saturday of each month.
^ Just got back. Good Stuff! Sounds like I just missed you Jason. I was going to offer a ride home if needed. Oh well, there's always next month and I'm actually kinda glad my first time wasn't in the dark. I don't think I would I have done so well.
Thank you very much for the offer by the way, I sure am dying for next month!
Also, are you looking into a Points Card?
well, i got 2nd place(which is the best ive ever done)....... so thats cool...... but in the process, i hit 4 cones and busted my brand new front lip.... BLAH! so it was a bittersweet victory for me!
for those that didnt go..FORESHAME! road & track was there testing a new GT-R... that thing was badass!
absence and damon.. ill let casey chime in on the registration details.. it was good seeing both of you!

sucks so bad that I missed it.
glad to hear you had fun.
In talking with Jesse, it sounded like a crazy short course. only 35 seconds long.... man, thats super short. for the night race they do keep the track small so it can be well lit. also keeps the speeds down.
anyways, glad to hear you had fun. hopefully next month everyone can make it out! myself, Keith and the super miata will be there of course.
The next race is September 14th.
ok here is how it works guys.
if you are interested in running the rest of the year, then yes. get your SCCA membership witch is good for 1 year, it cost around $85. the SCCA license is required at all events. (this was the $5 fee you paid for... this was for a temporary membership) (also, the $5 you just paid, gets you a discount on your SCCA license.... so I recommend you use it)
now if you do not plan on running for more then a race or two, then I would not bother. just continue to pay the $5 temp fee. the problem is I think they only let you do this a couple times.
now as for the local membership. (CSCC) ($30) if you plan to run a lot, then you can chose to get a CSCC (not to be confused with SCCA above). this membership will put you in a class and you will be running for yearly points. you will also get to choose a number, rather then be given a 600 number. It is not required, but if you plan to run the most part of the year, then its nice to see your points stack up. (in 2006 I was BSP champion, and in 2007 I was BSP 2nd place, Keith was the opposite of me, in 2006 he was 2nd, and in 2007 he was champion)… this year we will do ok in points, but we missed several events in the Miata when it was being built. Next year we will be fighting for points a lot more.
to make more sense, Jesse just got 2nd place in CSM, which is cool, but he gets no credit for that because he is not a card holder. he gets no points for the year for that. (not that he would care... he has missed half the year already)
If you are an SCCA member, and a CSCC member, then a race cost $25 to get into.
If you are not a member of either then it cost... what did you guys pay?.....$35 - $40… but keep in mind, they will only let you buy the temporary membership a couple few times. (I think)
I hope this makes sense.
To sum it up:
you don’t HAVE to buy either membership if you plan to just mess around a couple times a year. To get into a race it will cost $35 or $40 (I don’t remember… Jesse, what did it cost?)
If you plan to run several times, but you don’t care about points, and you also don’t mind changing classes from race to race to better suit what time of day you drive, just get the SCCA membership ($85), but not the CSCC. This will make race days cost ~$30
If you plan to run a lot, and plan to stick with a class, then I suggest you get both, an SCCA ($85) and a CSCC ($30) (though wait till December when the 2009 cards come out, this year would make no sense) a race day will now cost you $25 and you have a real number.
Keep in mind in the future, if all of us want to run at the same time, there are 3 options. The problem is that we all drive different cars in different classes. And the bigger pickle is that I run CSP and will not change from that. But since you guys are not going for points, it helps.
Option 1 is to run X runs, I think this allows you to run when ever you want. This means you can run when CSP runs. Likely the best option. X runs means “I am just here to turn some laps and have fun”
Option 2 is to run PAX, if PAX is running when CSP does, this will work out great. PAX is a catch all (sorta) class.
Option 3 is to run CSM, if CSM is running the same time CSP does, this will work great. CSM is a catch all class that all of you fit into
Any of these 3 methods would allow you to ALL to run at the same time…. though the most important part is that we all run in the same part of the day. Not so much the same exact time. Meaning if we all ran in the morning, that’s all that really matters. It only becomes a problem if you guys want to run CSM, and I run CSP….. and lets say CSP runs in the morning, and CSM run in the afternoon. I would be packed up and ready to leave by the time you guys even got to the track.
Anyways, we will worry about all that later.
For those of you that want to get their own helmet, please, please, make sure it’s a SNELL approved helmet. Just a D.O.T. sticker is not enough to pass tech. I think I paid right at $100 for mine from Chaparell.
glad to hear you had fun.

jesse did you say I could have the mirrors off your turbo?
Update on the automatic- I have spent alot of time with the car over the last week
-reinstalled motor
-fresh freeze out plugs, and vac lines
-replaced multiple emissions equipment and a/c compressor
-made every thing work (cruise control, power locks, etc) still looking for an oem radio
-super clean interior
car should be good to go after a trailing coil pack, afm, and airbox arrive other than smog, registration and plates.

hey will if you need any of those i have those parts sitting in my garage. in fact i think i have 2 afm, gotta check tho. and an intake with a throtttle boddy still attached
Thanks a lot. So for next month, all I need is to sign up at the event, and borrow a helmet, and not subscribe to anything?
The following month I'll buy a helmet, and get an SCCA license. In December of this year, I'll get a 2009 CSCC points card, but not until then. If next month goes as well as I plan, I'll look into getting another part time job that will give me these track days off. Then I'll build my car to the specs of my class (probably CSP it looks like).

exactly.... thats the way I would do it!
at the next race you will get a temp SCCA license that will also come with a cool discount coupon that you can apply at a full SCCA member ship. :-)
you could also wait to get the SCCA until the same time you get the CSCC that way you know that both are going to be due again in December of 09.... how ever you want to do it.
(My SCCA license expires in March, so as you can tell its no big deal, you can get them at different times... its up to you)
also just so you know, if you ever plan on running a Pro Solo( which I HIGHLY recommend) you will need the SCCA License, so that’s cool, you will already have it.
A Pro Solo is a once a year race that does NOT go for CSCC points, its a whole different bal game. they line two cars up with very very similar times, and they get a drag race start, burn out, Christmas tree and all. after the launch, you get.... or I dont know, 100 feet or so, just enough to get well into 2nd gear, then you split off and run mirrored tracks.... its pretty awesome! this will come around sometimes in March or so.... also its a two day event. you will get 12 laps between the 2 days...... or is it 18 laps..... hmmmm... I forget. we usually run these in El Toro, not Fontana.
also there is another once a year race that you need the SCCA card for, it's called the divisional, (we also ran this in El Toro), its more like a normal race, but all the big dawgs come out for it. we just did this in June.)
anywhoo, just thought you might want a little more info.

Thats perfect, I qualify for that as well.
Well after many long hours I finally drove the car today, and let me tell you, it was as slow as I thought it would be.....lol
I swear the transmission is so stupid, why doesn't it let the engine live were it likes it.

glad to hear shes back on the road!
Hey Jasson, can you do me a favor? Measure the distance from the ground to the apex of your front wheel well? I'm trying to see how much these old springs really are sagging.
I'm getting 22" on mine with RB springs, Illimuna shocks, while parked up a slight driveway. My brother's is also 22" with stock GXL shocks and springs (which are very old and saggy).
You are talking about the distance from the ground to the top of the body around the wheel, correct? Not inside the wheelwell itself, above the tire?

yeah exactly as you have it.
so you're RB springs (which are what.. 1" drop?) gave you a messurment for 22"?
I'm thinking these tanabes are either going to slam my car or raise it a little. Who am i kidding, It'll be exactly the same and i wont notice any change (like 99% of the other parts i've put into the car)
P.s. I found a shop that has the rim bolts for my advans, i guess that some motivation to keep my job lol

I don't know how much the RB springs dropped the car, since their website ( http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=14081 ) doesn't list it, and I can't measure them compared to a stock car with new OEM units.
Unless we do one for us San Bernardino meet guys, I'm going to this one:
