its very safe, but it depends on the parts..... exhausts, intakes, things like that.. no problem........ but when you get into cams, meth, bigger turboes, boost controllers (if turning up the boost)... then no, youll need a tune when you install them.....

But his upgraded turbo - wouldn't that need a tune?

I believe the ECUTEK he mentioned is an ecu flash that installs the fuel maps for his mods. Pretty similar to the Rtek they make for FC's, but only better because Rtek's suck. Couls be wrong though. Either way, it's under warranty baby!

Oh ok. I'm looking forward to Saturday, we have an awesome turnout. Hopefully Matt and Will will be able to make it to the meets once again soon.

I'm not doing the turbo just yet On the EVO X you only need intake, full exhaust, intercooler piping, and a EcuTek(computer flash) to make 330-340whp. Not to bad. Oh ya by then I will need a clutch some time after all this. Stock clutches are WEAK to say the least.

When I go to the upgraded turbine wheel/injectors with a new tune....should be close to 400whp on pump gas. That is my goal, just like what Jessie wants.

Very safe, the car comes from the factory 9.0 afr under load. Which to me is crazy, you should only need 11.5 afr. That's why with just a reflash(cleaning up the fuel and timing) you gain so much HP. The car actually starts off at 21psi of boost then falls off to 14psi towards redline stock(boost controller is controlled by the ECU). All you have to do is clean up the fuel/timing, and hold the boost(or even turn it up) through out the rpm's. That increases the HP 80-90whp over stock(ofcourse the bolts included). Makes the car a lot of fun to drive.

That is one fast as hell DD Ryan! Best of both worlds Heh. How's the 7?
After the GMR run I felt pretty stupid about trying to give you directions after I realized you had the GPS. Did it help at night with the turns. I just went through the rockies a few weeks ago at night and I felt my GPS zoomed in a little bit gave me a pretty good bead on the turns.

Well the 7, let's just say that I have sent pineapple 3 emails, 4 phone call to ROB and no return call or email since. I'm very disappointed in the way that is being handled, it's not like this is my "first rodeo." I have bought 3 motors from him. The motor has been there for at least 6wks with no reply to my inquires.

LOL!!! The GPS I was actually using it as we drove up the mountain that night. It helped, knowing how the roads we going to roll. But little hard to watch that in tight turns going fast. I was watching the road more!! LOL!! Funny that you mentioned that though.

Wow, I'm surprised that Mitsubishi engineers decided on such a rich mixture for the engine. I'm shocked to hear that in stock form it puts up to 21 psi of boost into the engine. That engine must be rock solid. I'm dying to see the new car on Saturday! I'm Jason by the way, and I drive the red 87 GXL.

they run it really rich for a few reasons... security being #1..... if they ran thier vehicles lean, and some schmo puts 87 octane in it.. KABOOM! so its run really fat so there are less of those kabooms.....or some idiot cranking up their boost controller and popping the motor.... as it sits, some people have cranked their X's up to 26psi with no tuning, and the AFR's are still in the green...

the other reason is that they are known for their tuning capabilities.. and if the X came out running lean, and at its prime, but only putting down the sad #'s the X does in stock form, with no room for improvement.. the X would be the worst evo ever....... but they were smart and really built a badass motor and detuned it for safety and aftermarket potential

Oh ok. Mitsubishi did awesome work with their line of Evolutions. They took a $13,000 economy car and tricked it out to super handling, solid engine with incredible power, and lots of potential for aftermarket upgrades.

Please repeal smog stations

That will never happen. If it does, or my car gets exempted in the next five years (doubt it), I will be kicking my self so hard for not going bridge port during my rebuild.
