I called the guy and talked him down to 6600 only problem is that the turbo isn't boosting. If I do decide to get it does anybody want to cruise down to to tuscan AZ. I will pay for everything.

Depending on the day you want to go, and if you'll pay for gas, I might be able to take you.

Is it 70k on the chassis or the engine? Does he still have the original seats? Is it worth $6600 for a car thats not boosting?

Family vacation is coming up, I likely can't. Things can change so much in an hour, sorry, haha.

Wait on it Will. Check into this car first before buying it. Check compression and carfax reports. That a long travel for a car that may have problems. If you need info or if you need me to talk to him I will.
Thanks Robert

yeah... if it isnt boosting, there could be some big problems.... or a very stupid problem.. like a loose intercooler hose or something..... but arizona is a long way for a car that you already know has one problem that he's telling you about.... and $6600 for a car that isnt boosting is too much!

I agree as well. $6,600 will get a car that is running like it should. even if its a stupid problem, the guy should have it fixed for $6,600 first.

now on the other hand, if it were way cheap, then I would say get all over it. but when your paying "top" money, you should expect your moneys worth.

and how many miles. the guy did not go into any details. that makes me wonder....

First off all tuscan is not that far 350miles
chassis has 78k pretty low
the boosting problem just started after he placed it fs
regardless of why it is an easy fix boost leak, bad turbo or wasteg gate problem.
he says the car is in immaculate condition I will show you more pictures
kbb is already less than what t!!s are selling for and this car is under kbb
And last I am not set on getting this one but I probably will if no more I like show up. I would prefer the red one listed earlier but I can't get ahold on the guy. ^^^nice ride by the way

I talked to the guy that bought my rx7 today and I am worried for it even though it is not my problem any more. He said " this thing is so ******* fast, I hit 20 psi" I mentioned that he was going to blow the motor boosting above 12psi. He goes on to say that "it is alright since my friend is installing a boost controller and some sort of piggyback so he can adjust the fuel mixture". Than his friend told him not to premix since it would clog the injectors. I told this guy a dozen times while he was here, the car needs a standalone, waste-gate and a professional tune, omg my poor car

It's for this story that buying a used turbo sports car can be so scary. When that guy pops the motor he's going to try and pawn it off "unknowing".

Will, on the white rx7 if it's a boost leak it is a pretty big one. Tell him to stick his head under and listen or take it to a shop with a fogger and find the leak. It could be a bad turbo/wastegate but those turbos usually last much longer under stock or slightly higher boost. Also, his BOV might be shot and not holding pressure. Once again though, if it's not boosting he would hear the hissing leak. Small leaks typically only cause irregular idle if I'm not mistaken. Also, look to see if the wastgate actuator rod is connected.
My $.02

here is an interior pic, I talked to the guy and I am pretty sure it is a boost leak.
I have a question about buying an out off state car. If it gets smogged in AZ do I still have to resmog it and how hard is it to register.
I also talked him down some more.

Matt I would love to have a bike like that. Right now I am riding the K-MART special to work every night

you might be right but I am not finding anything else and I need a vehicle. I have been searching for a while and it is easily worth that price, I almost paid that much for my old rx7. Kbb says 6300 in good condition, Exterior looks very clean, interior is great, everything works, comes with nice seats and harnesses, suspension work and a decent sound system. Jesse I think you have been away from 2nd gens to long because the problem listed is easy to fix regardless of why. 6500 is a great price and I am going for it, thanks for finding it Damon.

well, here is the deal.
KBB is not always right. it's worth to you, what it's worth to you. If you can not find any in todays market, then it is what it is.

I personally would not pay that much for that car considering there is potential problems, and could use a little work to make it super clean. also I have a problem paying that much for an FC period. I guess that comes from my buying and RX7 for a few hundred $. you really cant do that much any more.

I paid $2000 for my S5 TII, though it was rather rough. you get what you pay for. I jsut dont want to see you pay that much money, and not get that much car in return.

now if the car does have a simple major boost leak, like the intercooler couple fell off, and the car is in great shape even in person.... then sweet, sounds like you found the car for you.

My advice, go see it. but have it set in your head that this is a road trip and you will be returning empty handed. that way if you get there and it have more major problems then he led, its no big deal. and if its better (or same) as he described, then SWEET, you got your self a kick butt new ride.

... and yes, I will want a ride in it.

oh man..here we go..

i didnt say it was 100% a hard fix! i just said it COULD be more than you think!if its as simple as you think, then why didnt the owner fix it himself and then just not mention it to you... just some things to think about!... you havnt seen this car in person, you dont know the owner.... so your taking him at his word, and im sorry, but in the rx7 world... your COULD be in for a rude awekening..... good luck with the sale! i truly hope it works out for you!

and im done giving help or advice! ive been in this game ALOT longer than you, and since i still own 2 fcs, i wouldnt really say ive been away from them.... .... when did i say something ignorant to get a stupid remark like that

looks like jesse won that bout, ding ding. just kidding, Will never EVER go buy KBB, prices are to high. Dude almost 7k for a stock fc! really! I'm sure you can find a way better turbo for less that 4k IN LA or so cal, last thing i want to say is 350 miles is far enough for something to go wrong I was stupid when i got my turbo and it blew up in less than 50 miles so please take what everybody's saying to heart.
