SoCal 's monthly San Bernardino rotary meet: Second Saturday of each month.
Hey Viper can you post my rims in the for sale section in the EVO forum, i am unable to. I can email you exactly what i want. I posted in the Lexus forum and got a friend to post in the Subaru forum already.

I know most of you RX-7 guys dont care about us RX-8 guys
but I thought you would all want to see this.
I posted this on the RX-8 forum:
The time has come……
Not many people know because I didn’t want to be the boy who cries wolf again, so I waited till it was a lot more of a for sure thing. For the last couple of month I have been contemplating getting rid of the RX-8. It looks like I will race the August 19th race and then start dismantling my car for sale. ( removing the aftermarket parts, and installing stock stuff)
It’s getting rather hard financially, and I just cant warrant keeping the RX-8 any more. Don’t get me wrong, I love my car and of course I love the rotary community, but the $550 a month car payment and the $150 a month insurance payment is just a little much right now for a car that gets driven on meets and autocrosses. Yes I know I could get rid of the Cobalt and start driving the RX-8, but the 15 miles a gallon vs the 30 miles a gallon just kills that. Not to mention that frees up $300 and the RX-8 frees up $700. It’s time for me to move on.
I do however have a backup plan at least. I will be making the switch from RX-8 to Miata. Yeah I know that sounds funny. Put a fat man in a little car, but the miata is one of the fastest cars at the auto cross track. You put tires that are damn near the same size as the one I run on the RX-8, you slap those bad boys on a miata that weighs 1900 pounds, and you’ve got your self a freakin go kart at a fraction of the cost.
With the sale of the RX-8 and the sale of the aftermarket parts I will be able to buy a 90 miata from a guy in Arizona that he will be dropping a ’99 engine into. With performance clutch, light flywheel, race header, and a MS clutch type LSD. Then of course I need to buy my own suspension, wheels and tires. Also do some weight removal and junk like that, and I got myself a pretty wicked little track car.
Another advantage of doing it this way is I will be able to afford to do things again. I will be able to run auto cross practices again. I want to start doing San Diego auto cross a little more. I would love to go run on a “real” track. We miss being able to go to Laughlin or Vegas, we miss being able to go out to dinner. Having that extra $700 a month will help with all of that. (of course for the first few month it looks like it would go into the miata.)
Last but not least, we a wanting to have kids in the somewhat near future, if we have any chance of that happening we need to free up some cash. The RX-8 is not due to be paid off for almost 2 ½ years. If we get rid of the RX-8 we can start working on getting that cobalt paid down. (or trade the cobalt in for a little bit more baby seat friendly car and start paying that down.)
As long as I get to race, and I get to do the things I enjoy, and I get to hang out with my friends (yeah, that’s all of you) then I am a happy guy. (well that and something else that Michelle helps me out with)
Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know what was going on, sorry to keep y’all out of the loop for so long, but again I just didn’t want to be the guy that cries wolf since I already did this process once before a few months ago.
Now as for the meet, the meets are still on. I don’t have any intension of ditching the RX-8 (and 7) friends I have made. I figured we would just show up in the Cobalt, and hitch a ride with someone that has an open seat or two. Worse comes to worse, we cruise the back of the pack in the slowbalt.
A list of parts for sale will be posted in another thread when the time comes, but pretty much everything is for sale. You all know I have a lot of parts on my car. You guys get first dibs of course.

Miatas rock. Go for it.
Don't put a heavy engine in the nose. Take a lesson from Porsche, Ferrari, Lambourghini, BMW and, heck, even the little guys know better. At least the ones that make good track cars. I mean, when a Porsche was slightly tail heavy, they put a 20 pound weight in the nose. When they made a front engine Porsche, they pushed the tranny all the way back to the diff. The exotics move the entire engine to the back. Honda put a hand assembled 4-banger in the s2000 that's more expensive than a rotary (also hand assembled, but simpler). Why do you think they did that when they could have gotten the same power out of a cheap 3 liter V6? And of course Mazda put a tiny engine in the Miata, which they increased in size only after putting a huge cavity in the back of the engine bay so they could push it back farther.
