so SOCAL is on fire once again
i just walked out side and the sky and my neighborhood looks erie,
smells like smoke, lots of ash coming down, air is very funky and making it hard to breathe.
and if you turn to fox, cw, or upn(my13) its nothing but coverage of the flames.
wish best of luck to the ppl who are near the flames..

Mandatory evacuation up to my housing development
Recommended evacuation for my neighborhood, but not mandatory.
I live in Carbon Canyon. This evening I hiked up a service road the serves water reserves to get a good view of the fire line that ran along the crest of the hills from Brea to the 71 Frwy. I would guess that would be between 5-10 miles. Think of that when you look at the pictures I just took.
They pan from looking east toward Corona (that's a new housing development between me and the fire line called Villa Verona). Moving west the 2nd picture is toward Yorba Linda, further east the 3rd looking toward Brea.
The fire has substantially toned down except, unfortunately, where it approach's Brea Olinda and Brea proper. They closed down the 57 Frwy through the Brea area only because the smoke is so thick you can't see.
I tell yah. First that damn earthquake centered under my house, and now this. Fortunately for me at least, both seemed to be benign in causeing any real grief.

Mandatory evacuation now
Local police driving the streets of my sub division saying GET OUT. Smoke is getting pretty thick which I think is the primary reason they're kicking us out.
Went up to the top of the hill again, fire line was front dead center. I could throw a rock and hit where they'd burned out brush with a back fire. Pretty bright glow BETWEEN myself and the community of Sleepy Hollow. I ran into a local who said about 2 hours ago Sleepy Hollow area was like a Volcano.
I'm outta here.

When I saw that Carbon Canyon was on the news, the first thing I thought of was you Hozz... no homo... just looking out for you. I hope everything goes well. I'm hoping the fire doesn't go all the way towards Portola again, because then I'll have to evac.
