Sorry , but i hate people who litter...let alone smokers throwing there butts out the window... have to give the cop props for handing out the ticket... 99.5% of smokers are rude any how. Cant wait for a new law which states if you smoke in your car you have to do so with the windows rolled up and if you smoke at home you have to do it in your house/apt with the windows closed... oh yeah and the one that states it is illegal to smoke in public...smokers suck.... nothing personal

Wow, for a second there I thought I lived in the U.S.A. Where the country was founded on personal freedom.

I don't smoke cigerettes but it annoyes me to have people placing there personal preferences on others.

now how do I get off of this soapbox?

its one thing to have the personal freedom to smoke, its another thing to ruin MY personal freedom to have a clean roadside/city/etc.

How far do you want to take that belief? Should everyone be allowed to blast music at 100+ dBA in an apartment building at 3am? Should child molestors be allowed to abuse children because it's their personal preference?

The "personal freedom" belief is just a cop-out to act like an *******, IMO. People need to show respect for others.

I think a $500-1000 fine is pretty damn steep for a cigarette butt, however, I think smokers tend to be some of the most inconsiderate people in society....

First everyone has the right to act like an *******. YES, EVERYONE!!! I to believe people need to show respect for others but not by legislation.

Second he deserves the fine he got. Its the law he broke it.

Thirdly () I am referring more toward laws that make it illegal to smoke in a bar or restaurant or strip club and laws toward that nature... where you as an adult can exclude youself if you do not wish to be exposed to smoke. You know like not going to bar if you are an alcoholic...

ouch...nice work, but i think the fine is perfect considering some of the fires created by "some of the most inconsiderate people in society". it cost more then a $1000.oo to send out the fire trucks and sometimes these little spot fires turn into raging infernos that burn thousands of acres costing tax payers millions of dollars

I like the ... If you flick'et you'll get a ticket

Well, really, it's all a balancing act... you really don't want to go too far either way. Should a person be sent to jail for playing their music at 100 dBA? No, should his *** get evicted, yes!!! Talk about a cop out... NO, people should not be allowed to abuse children... and in my opinion, if the abuse is severe enough, should be taken out and shot, but that's just me.

But we can play this game all day long... Should I be a Christian because the majority is Christian? So, finding a good fulcrum point is the issue.

No, I don't think making it illegal to smoke outside or a park or a beach is right. Now if you want to increase the fines to $5000 for littering that's fine by me.

No can we all just get along and

Freedom to smoke and ****...hehe I can't stand the smell of smoke..makes me cough and it just smells like *** and makes my clothes smell....So when I'm sitting in traffic and a few dumbasses are around me smoking and they are blowing the smoke out of their windows and have the cigarettes sitting out of their windows in their hands the smoke tends to just drift on over to my car. And I'm glad places ban smoking inside..I went to Japan and couldn't even eat because of the idiot next to me smoking. I think they should ban smoking RIGHT outside the damn buildings though...it all gets blown right into the buildings anyways and like I said it stinks.

Pretty sure he does, oh and I totally agree, SMoking sucks. I'm shocked at how many people smoke these days, mainly young people. Grossssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

If you are going to be a smoker take care of your trash (butts) and throw them away. I hate wen Flaming pieces of paper fly at my car. If everyone stopped smoking I bet our SMOG laws wouldn't have to be so strict. HMM there's some incentive for ya!

Thats me!!!! Im a smoker and I dont give a **** what others think. Banned from Santa Monica Beach and restraurants but those who banned it are bunch of ******* idiots who got nothing better to do.

Smoking is only a small percentage considering that we are all contributors to smog wether you like it or not. Please tell that you dont fart. yeah, farting is an ozone killer . That and the fumes in the toilet has to go somewhere right??? How do you like driving down the 5 Freeway near kettleman or in Central Cali. What do you think of the cows.

Shall I say more???

Back when I was 20 I got an MIP (Minor In Possession) for booze and when I went to court there was a guy who was fined $300 or so for throwing a lit cigarette out of a car. This was up in Chico, so yeah I think its mostly the cop who sees it and where you are.

All you guys running straight through exhaust should really STFU about people smoking and its impact on 2nd hand smokers.

Though I don't smoke and have never smoked in my life, I'll take 5 min in a room sitting next to a smoker than 5 min behind a rx7 w/o a cat.

I smoke. Am I the 0.5% of people that arent ******* smokers? Or am I just thrown into the 99.5% that are ******** because I smoke? So many broad blanket statements about smokers are being made it's rediculous and ignorant. The way some of you are talking you might as well be stereotyping racists.

So if a newborn is sitting in their stroller next to you and you are just sitting there puffin away you don't give a ****? Banned from restaraunts is a good thing. If you want to kill yourself don't bring us down with it. It's your habit, not ours. Now see you have the choice to smoke in most places, mainly outdoors. What is so bad about that? You can still smoke while at the same time you are not endangering other people. Sounds like a respectful move to me, the kind of respect I would expect from a fine rx7club member such as yourself wacky.

The smog law thing was more of a sarcastic sentence.

Farting may be an ozone killer but it is a necessary function of the human body, smoking is Un-necessary.

Wow, too much guilt trip but I got more common sense than that. Why concentrate on the smokers when are more things that kill out there as in drive-by shooting, accidents, and other ****. I bet if you live in my neighborhood, you would be on those ******** who petitioned for a dog park. Yeah, a ******* DOG PARK!!! Do something else instead as in childcare, after school program. So dont be a hypocrite and take the bus. Do you really think that you're not a ******* contributor. Tell me.

Besides, if we all stop smoking, guess who will suffer. Mom and pops store and others who rely in the smoking industry.

I never said I didn't contribute. I totally agree there are worse things out there then smoking. But I still don't think it should be allowed in restaraunts or any other place where other people would be in danger.

Yes smoking has built up a lot of industry, it's either you suffer from the dangers of smoking or they suffer from you being healthy and not buying them. You are absoulutely right.
