Unhappy So I've got a ticket for littering on the free way ramp...

When I was enterting the freeway, my cig butt flew out of my car. A cop stopped me and gave me a ticket for littering. Any of you guys got ticket for littering before? I didn't see any sign saying "littering, fine up to $1000" in that area.

How much am I looking to pay?

Your best bet is just go to court. Hopefully the judge will reduce the fine.

Good for that cop. We need to start enforcing that rule more. Hopefully when you dish out that $1000, you will remember next time.

Man, that is a pretty rare ticket, no?

Anyways, just go to court and fight it. I don't think you stand to lose anything by trying. It's not a moving violation right?

In a sense it is pretty rare. But that is just because most people are smart enough not to litter when an officer is around. If a cop is close enough to watch you throw a 1'' piece of paper out the window, he was close enough for you to see him.

I honestly don't understand how or why you will fight this one. More than likely the judge will be a little annoyed that you decided to waste his time. Pretty much these days, the old theory of "maybe the cop will not show" isn't really true. The officer either gets overtime or time off the street/jail. It's a win/win situation either way. Plus no officer wants to see some punk kid get off of a ticket after he put in all of the trouble of giving you one(an hour or so of time).

not only wildfires, but just a general sense of nastyness...no one likes looking at cigarette butts on the ground...
