^I'll give you a ring and we'll figure out a good time. I've got that kids stuff for you as well. It was going to be a surprise, but I good deal in a group buy for custom racing radiators for our car made by a friend in Torrance that are bolt-in. However, the problem is that it's alot thicker than stock and the clutch fan won't clear( prototypes were developed off of the stock e-fan set-up, not stock clutch fan). I could shave down spacer for the Flex-Fan I have and make it fit but I'm trying to get rid of that fan in favor for clutch or electrical. If I put the flex fan in then I have to drain the rad and pull it out when I get the electrical ones because the flex-fan bolts can't be removed w/ the radiator in. What a Pita! I should have 2 stock e-fans go out in the mail from Torrance today. I will most likely get them late Fri. and have a small window of time to finish things up.

You know what. As I do a quick proof read of this post I'm thinking I should shave the flex-fan spacer, make it work, save up some money, and when spring comes and I drain the rad to go w/ a summer mix I'll put in some summit e-fans.

yeah.... and whats wrong with leaving it alone for this race.? ... THEN make changes. you know, when you ahve a month between races.

I personally would ditch the clutch fan, dont order stock e fans. why bother? just order up the electric fans from Summit, Jegs, ebay. they are not expensive. this way you wont have to bother with stock clutch fan, or stock bulky e-fans. aftermarket slim high cfm fans are the way to go.

have you seen the setu on the miata? I removed the stock e-fan that is ont he inside of the radiator (engine side) and installed a slim ebay fan on the outside of the radiator. it sure cleaned up the engine bay! it was cheap and it works. (I only installed one fan because its a ddicated solo car. I run 60 seconds and shut it down. if it were a street car i would have spent a little more for a SPAL fan or something like that, and I would have likley installed two.)

Well it looks like I will not be making the Xmas event after all. Tried all kinds of stuff including milling down spacer and trying to squeeze in flex-a-lite syclone in but nothing seems to be working out. I only have 2.5" depth to play with and can't seem to find fans by spal, derma cool, or any others that can pull any descent cfm's. I've got a freebie set of stockers on the way that I will try.

A/C condenser is on the front side. I don't think you're missing anything. I'm just too busy the next 1 1/2 mos. to be taking everything apart and putting it back together. I can't justify putting it back together the way it was just to change it again next week when I get the fans. It's not really a big deal. I could use a little break from grinding away on the car. This race came up very quickly. In my mind I thought I had a month to prep until I looked at the calender and was like,"Oh Shi#! That's next week!"

ok that makes more sence. you already have the car torn apart to do a mod you thought you could do. but ran into problems and dont want to put the car backtogether just to take it bak apart to finish the mod..... gotcha.

for future mods, try to hold off untill rigt after a race. whenever we do somehting big we always wait untill just after a race and we know we have 4 weeks to finish it. just in case something goes wrong.

this last time was a great example of what not to do. we only had two weeks between te early november event and the late november event. I made a change and had problems. I did not have enough time to fix the car, this caused me to miss a race. :-(

in my defense the mod was more because of a problem and not so much because I just wanted to have fun. the stock intake was collapsing so it needed to be fixed. the only fix I could think of was to do what I did.

anyways, is there anyone else you can drive with? geting to drive someone elses car is fun. I would let you rock the miata but we already have two drivers.

Fris, cool man. see you out there!
dont you have a rotary miata also? (I odnt know where I am getting this from, I just thought I remembered that)

EDIT:

I thought you did

Sure does I want him to bring that one out, that would be a cool little car to toss around!

Oh, what year is your Miata, Casey? I know the 90-91's had the "short nose" crank, and I've been paranoid to drive Fris' because of the failure stories on it. It has ~137k on the clock, so it should still be good, but the thought is always nudging me in the back of my head.

Andrew, I have a 90 chasis with a 99 engine.

I knwo what your talking about with the short nose, but I dont know much detail. sorry bout that.

if the crank brakes its a good excuse to upgrade.

Fris' rotary miata would be a freakin blast to drive. I think I would cream my jeans!

Zero, dont stress it, your gonna be slow your first time out. one of two things is going to happen, your either going to come out and drive like a grandma, or your going to come out and drive WAY to fast and keep snow plowing every turn..... but dont worry, thats the fun of it. making yourself a better driver. either way, your going to have fun!

I still cant belive Jasons time (Absence). his time in the S2K at the last race was awesome! and look at him, this was only his 4th or 5th race. you go boy.

Vipers, Andrew, them sounds like fighten words.

Yeah, I'm not gonna keep up at all with those Evo's haha.

Damon, if you want, you can drive my car - I have no 2nd driver. Only issue I see is you not fitting since you're pretty tall.

^ I would take you up on that offer Johnson had I not just spoke w/ Jesse. If he is able to attend it looks like I'll be livin' the dream driving one of my favorite cars. If for some reason he can't make it hopefully that spare seat will still be open.
Thanks Guys!!!!

My car died today a block from my house, had to push it home.

I think the Walbro gave up the ghost. Probably won't be able to make it tomorrow.
