Security Systems

The more I get my RX-7 in shape. The more I worry about theft. It just makes me so upset to hear of somebody getting their vehicles or stuff stolen off their cars. If I was to catch somebody in the act of stealing something from me. I know I would go overboard in stopping them. Does anybody have any good suggestions on what they think is the best security system for the car?

I have a quick release and a mini card that goes into a slot. The card is needed to start the car. I also have locks on my rims. Im planning to get an alarm system.

just about anything with a long range pager. preferrably a true 200 yards.

no alarm is going to really stop a thief, knowing your car is being broken into so you can check it is the best deterrent.

Yea that sounds good, mini card.. that seems better than a hidden kill switch. I bought locks for my rims too. Sometimes I wonder if I should just go with "On-Star" or something like that...

I'm an autopage C3 fan since you can get a GPS tracker as an add on. So even if they get it, they won't have it very long.

or you can activate GPS tracking on your smartphone and create a place to hide it in the car when you leave it outside.

problem is most thieves don't want the car itself, they just want what's in it and get out quick. the cars that are stolen usually are just for joyrides, not always though. i've had multiple break ins but never once a car stolen.

yeah i agree with the long range pager. having an alarm system is great, but if we're not around to hear it then we would never know someone is trying to break in. with the pager, we can run to our car hoping to find the thieves in action and kick some asses

Mossberg Ha! But that would be wrong. I don't want to kill him, but a good *** kicking would definitely make it even. Or at least make me feel better.. I guess the pager system is probably the best way to go. Has anybody ever had that "Viper" system... You know, you get to close to the car and it says something... Has anybody had any experience with that system?

Not true at all.. my alarm will not allow my car to be started no matter what, as long as it is engaged the car wll not start. Not even with my key.

Springfield Armory XD .45 - enough stopping power they will learn the first time. All I am saying is I have a family and a kid I have to protect. If you make it inside my garage plan on not coming out.

But to be politically correct.

Alarm
Wheel locks
Fuel cut
Steering wheel remover
Lo jack -24hr tracking
Us marine pissed off for trying to take what he worked hard for.

that's what you think.

it will deter most thieves but not all.

most alarms simply bypass one circuit from the ignition, all you have to do is reattach that single wire back to the factory harness to defeat the alarm. they will also have to contend with the steering lock but getting the car started is the easy part.

Alarms are ok, but a fuel pump kill switch is huge improvement and very inexpensive.
