San Diego Meet Poll

After some discussion with quite a few members and seeing some of the feedback in the forums, I decided to post this poll. This is in no way an attempt to undermine Jim or his efforts. Obviously it is impractical to expect everybody to make it on the same day. We want to accomodate as many people as we can, continuing the great turnout that we saw yesterday! If nothing else, some people are too shy to speak in public or address issues face to face. Here is a chance for you to do so now. Let your voice be heard and sound off!

I now have weekends off, so it doesn't matter to me. I do like the idea, since it will allow people who have Sundays off to make a meet every once in a while.

The proposed idea is to alternate meet days. Still the first Sat or Sun of the month. Since this meet was an odd month (3) and next will be an even (4) month, the scheme is Odd Saturdays, Even Sundays.

On the proposed scheme, the next meet would be Sunday April 6th.

If we are to start up a second monthly meet instead, I'd suggest putting it 2 weeks away from the usual meet. So for example, if we wanted a second meet this month, it would be Sunday March 16. (And keep the first Saturday meet.)

Looks like this is something totally different.

I don't know exactly where it came from. It seems that Jim, John and Mel talked it over, but it was the first I'd heard of actually doing it.

I remember last year we talked about it a few times but never really came up with anything.

see that's the thing thats 3 people who discussed it. they should have discussed it on the thread where everyone can put opinion and people who weren't there can debate it as well.

How is the "No opinion / any day is good for me" considered, in terms of making a determination?

I'm not sure, I wanted to throw a neutral stance in. I really don't want to be the decider of that and would rather leave that to the masses. I just consider myself to be the poll starter/guy in the middle.

The idea was brought up to me recently by Jim before Saturday but I had nothing to do with it. It does give consideration to those who can only attend on Sundays. Any changes might be worth giving a shot although my preference leans towards Saturdays.

This poll is a good thing. Keep your thoughts coming people...

i completely agree with you mel. it sucks that some people cant make it regularly on saturdays. but at the same time if moving the meet to sundays means that less people will be able to attend than the couple people that cant make sat i feel its not a good choice for the club as a whole.

+1 on what 2cute said...changing or alternating the dates to acomodate for the few that can't come on saturdays is going to weaken the group that goes strong once a month on saturdays...I say stick to saturdays as we have been doing...

yeah. well like a lot of us said. if they can't make it why change the whole meet for just them? if they got a problem with it then make their own meet. why try to fix something that isn't broken yaknowwutimsayun foo?

look part of this club is that we try to make everyone happy and try to help every one out. i understand it sucks. no matter what we end up doing there will be an unhappy party. as i said i want it to be one saturdays but if its for the better of the club then so be it i will only come every other month to the saturday meets.

By far the worst idea suggested so far.

I think having two meets is a bad idea. It supports segregation amongst the club, as a whole. Pick a day, one day, to meet, where it's convenient for the majority. It's unfortunate for those who can't make it, but to say "well, if you don't like it, set up your own meet" suggests that those who can't attend are not part of the group.

As far as setting up the next meet, it's only been 2 days since the poll was posted, give it a week before setting something in stone. Give it some time for more people to post up.

yeah that won't work either stick to what we have or pick a solid day and run with it...but having two seperate meets is a bad idea...
