Rotary Power USA ~ Gardena, CA - any good? (sorry about other thread)
The dealer got back to me and said it was in-fact Rotary Power in Gardena CA that did the rebuild on the '94 FD I'm looking at. In that thread, one person said they do excellent rotary service. Does anybody else know of them/their rotary handiwork? The car has 2 days left on Ebay and is much too far for me to go see it in person. (which seems to be the case with any decent FD's I find, living in WV) I greatly appreciate any feedback. I also have a PDF document of the invoices, for the work done on this car, and would love to post them, but do not know how? The file size is a touch over a Mb. It shows all the engine work done, including turbo rebuilds, as well as upholstery work on the seats, vehicle inspection etc.
Heard their cool, just never had any work done on my car from them.
I will rep for "Neptune Speed" all day everyday and tell u that their work is awesome. They built up my 13bt with what Yoshi calls "the perfect build" and Ive had no issues. Just my 2cents.

Jeff at Rotary power do good work. I had my first 3mm street port built from them and was very happy with the build. The down side is it takes a awhile for them to fix or due anything for you cause they are too busy.
i have to give the thumbs up for Alan back when he used to work for Rotary Power.
"mildy" street ported my motor when it was taken apart before my rebuild @ NepTune Speed.
even showed me the size and how clean the port was by fingering it.

Rotary Power definitely.....
does good work.
Jeff's a good dude. And yeah, there's a wait to get work done and it ain't cheap, but they do it right. Had the rebuild on my 73 duece done there and have been very happy with the quality of the work including the fab work performed. Car still kicks *** and hasn't given me one problem. If you get a car that has been gone thru by Rotary Power, you will be very happy with it, especially if you're not paying full price for the work or waiting anxiously for it to get done. Good luck with the FD.

PS - great pics!
Heard a lot of good things, heard and seen a lot of bad things as well. Some include improperly prepped motors, not cleaned enough, etc.
But, that is just part of the business. Good?, Bad? I don't know.
Personally, i can think of at least 2-3 places out here i would take MY rotary engine to, before Rotary Power. Neptune speed is one of them.

Nah, didn't sell it....
got too much time, luv, and dough tied up in it to let it go too cheap. Plus everyone's broke right now. Besides, its still a blast to own and drive, and real nice examples are getting even harder to find. I'll be out enjoying it for awhile more...
Jeff, does do great work, i havnt gotton work done by him personally, but have friends who have had work done by them. and ive talked to them on many occasions, because i live down the street, they build reliable motors!!!
Yeah, that ended my communication with them, heh. Between that and the mileage on the rest of the car, it aint worth whatever they're after. I did make an offer, if pretty low. It's not like they paid for the rebuild/need to recoup the cost.
Should I ask for Jeff specifically or na? It's been re-listed. Also, I decided to write back and let the lot know $150 was outrageous for a compression test and was told they'd check how much it would cost & get back to me, lol.
Rotary Power has been around for over 20 years and has never advertised it has always been word of mouth advertisement for Jeff. Jeff has been responsible for building race engine for the likes of Abel Ibarra, Adam Saruwatari and many others during the drag race years, they also built the 3rd gen drift car when drifting first began it ran in FormulaD and D1 (and was one of 4 american cars that came out in the D1GP video game for PS3) Jeff is also the only person to have had an import in the NHRA hall of fame with Abel's old R100 (which he build back before he turned pro) . This shop has a lot of history and is planning to make more with a 4 rotor time attack being build at the moment. definetly a GOOD shop!

Somthin potentially fishy's goin on with the RX in question.. it was originally listed as buy-it for 11 grand. then relisted as 10. (make offer function) I made a rediculously low offer of 4k, just to get my name on their list. It never sold and I'm being offered it for 4k?!?!! I dunno what to do. Looks /carfax clean, (it's in CA, I can't go look at it), Jeff rebuilt it 20k ago in Dec 2005, turbos included. I'm tempted to buy it and even if it needs another rebuild before long....... Any opinions anybody?
PS - I'm gonna post this in all my RX-7 pondering threads, as I need thoughts ASAP! Also, the story is this one starts, idles, and runs like a champ, without issue, from engine to tranny and everything else

I've been in contact with the seller for the last few hours and will allegedly recieve the car, SHIPPED, for $4000 total. The title will come via certified mail. I will have 10 days to inspect the car and decide if it is what I agreed upon. If it is not, I am supposedly allowed to return the car at their expense. I NEVER have this kind of luck, but it looks like I'm gonna give it a shot. I will be sending payment tomorrow morning via MoneyGram. Wish me luck!!!
The car is definitely on a lot in Costa Mesa, as I've spoken in depth with the dealer where it's located. What I've been wondering all along, since I got this 2nd chance offer is who the hell I've been talking to. Thanks everybody for putting the HALT on anything happening just yet. My plan was to wait for the dealer to open and talk to somebody who actually works there, asking about this guy/the price etc. In the meantime I'll email him direct that I'll be having somebody local check out the car. Any other suggestions?

(jk) Jeff is pretty good about keeping records, get the vin and give them a call.
