My good friend Steve Singh works with Drifter Buckey Laing and other Vegas rotary heads, including engine builds for Area 77 out there. He can help you out with whatever you need...PM me for more info...

just avoid chris, whatever you do.
based on just about everything i have heard/seen that is what to do, i haven't heard too many bad things about steve's work though. haven't heard a single good word about chris' work and i have personally seen many big mistakes on simple jobs.
right now i'm booked about 2.5 months out, quite the contrast from a virtually empty shop about a month ago. unless it's something minor i am not taking any more rebuilds on the schedule until i get some jobs cleared out.
as far as legitimate rotary shops, i'm pretty sure i'm the only registered and licensed in the valley. i don't know about anyone else but if i was someone else i might consider a different plan of attack if i was rolling up to a garage at the back of someone's house to have repairs done on my car at full shop prices.

i know i know, sorry it's taking so long. i'm doing a pile of them all at the same time just to make it worthwhile in labor costs.
considering i have piles of parts cleaned and ready to toss motors together(weeks of labor invested) i never wanted to consider closing and so far things are looking up, hopefully they stay that way.

I speak from experience when I say Steve's work is the Real Deal.
I know hes been working on rotary's since he was old enough,
having a father employed by Mazda at the time the rotary engine was being
offered into the market.
As far as being a real shop, congrats bro.
Wish you and your business the best.

but since you felt like it, i have heard complaints about timeframes since he is only in vegas a few days a month(ie simple jobs taking several weeks or longer). not that i'm much better, i admit i'm quite slow at getting things done for most larger jobs. patience is a virtue with anything rotary related. right now i couldn't book another job even if i wanted so if people go to steve, i'm not trying to sway them too much, but i DO think they charge too much for some back yard mechanic work that may happen to be semi specialized. i believe they charge even more than i do and i have quite a bit more overhead to soak up...
i don't quite get the zealousness in the arguments when i'm not even attacking him, this isn't the first time either. i recall some tension when i moved here 2 years ago as well when i didn't even pick a fight.
believe it or not, i don't mind having other local rotary specialists in the event i have people trying to shove jobs down my throat. if it's because you consider chris your boy also, well that i will have an argument with as i have seen his work first hand and he should not be charging to work on these cars.

^Your vag is moist..
Never said "you said" or intended anything bad about the man.
I dont keep tabs on his business, but I know he has cars lined up..
Majority of them are clean FD's. With another half dozen various rotaries in line.
Not to mention the kids little sled...
The man does his work on his own schedule.
Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you dont.
Anyone who works in the automotive aftermarket industry knows that custom setups
and sometimes simple upgrades can take much longer than expected due to clearance issues, etc...
Backyard or not, work is work plain and simple.
As long as the customer satisfaction is aquired (w/ or w/o a comeback),
wheres the problem? Im sure you started out in a garage or backyard/driveway
just like the majority of technicians....
We know there are different types of techs out there..
Have you ever traveled out of state for work?
I've never met Chris and I know nothing about him other than his name.
If you have something sour to say about him, keep it between the two of you.
.Good luck and watch your toes. Wouldnt want to step on wrong ones.

i'll take my car to Rotary Evolution (Karack/Ben) built my motor and speaking of which my car is at his shop as we speak. He's shop is legit and alot of people can vouch for his work. don't let a customer fool you from his bad experience with Karack.
