registration help.

I just bought a non running 87 t2. the car was last registered in 2000 and have been sitting in a field since then. there have been 3 title transfers since then and I am having alot of trouble registering under my name. I have the original title signed by the owner, but there had been release of liability sent from it an the car changed hands from that owner, to another owner, to another owner, and to mr. however DMV doesn't have the record for that an refuses to give me contact info for those people. is there anything I could do to get the car under my name so the state recognizes it or am I stuck parting it?

i had a similar problem with my supra, but it all depends on luck and who you talk to really

I think what you need to do is have all the transfer records and tell them how much you bought the car (should be like very low price) so that they will transfer it in your name

Start over. Go to AAA and see whats really on record. Worst case scenario put a lien on the car. That will cost your 50-80 bucks. Once the lien goes through then car is your's. But more then likely AAA or a helpful DMV rep will solve your problem.

If you have the signed title on hand though you shouldn't have any problems. Maybe fees we're recieved on the car to transfer but you can just tell them that the buyer backed out and the original owner kept the car. That will all be explained with a statement of facts. Simple stuff..... Just gotta be nice and talk to the people that are "HELPING" you.
