registering vehicle from Nevada to California
guys, as some of you know already, my car is from Nevada, and I have to register her for the first time here in CA
so, apart from having to do a smog check, I also have to get it inspected
now, what exactly do they "inspect" on my car?
obviously it has no emission stuff, the left turn signal doesn't work and the driver door doesn't open from the outside, but apart from that, she runs great and everything else works
just wondering whether I should go do it at the dmv or find a person who can do it also I wonder............
anyone know or have been through this?

Last time I brought my S13 over from AZ, they just checked VIN #s, looked at the paperwork, and did a quick check under the hood. Maybe took 5 mins tops.
I'm bringing my FD over next month.
I'm bringing my FD over next month.
well i was planning on it but i am on the hunt for a daily and dont know what i want
i know if i get me another rotary its gonna be a clean t2 or fd
if its a truck it will be a tacoma and if i get me that clean t2 i will transfer everything i can to it from mines and part my 400whp fc so i can build my drag car
either way i am a bit screwed because if a cop asks me to pop my hood I am that person who will not budge i rather go to county jail over night and come with my lawyer but it seem like its a battle i cant win so i am worried

The DMV inspection is different from a smog or safety inspection. DMV just verifies:
1) that the VIN on the dash matches the one stamped on the firewall
and, more problematic for you
2) that the emissions sticker exists on the underside of the hood.
They don't care about your engine mods at all. Nor do they ensure that your car is safe (e.g. turn signals, horn, lights). While you might get away with it (my sticker was charred from a hood fire and passed), you might consider mounting a stock hood to avoid any issues.
Now getting it through smog is another matter. Did someone say HOOKUP? Wackyracer seems to want to help ya.
BTW. Looks like a potent FC you've got there. Nice ride El Nene.
