I would argue that its 25 years old now. Its an 85 model year and therefore made in 84 (as far as they know). Try it and post your results. It can never hurt to try.

That is true, however I will wait till next year. I don't require smog this year anyways......hehe

Can someone confirm if Historic plates do make the car smog exempt? I remember asking that question along time ago and was under the impression that they didn't. Im sure it's only a matter of time before the fb's will qualify for the plates. IF the Z cars can have them, I'm sure the 7's will get them too once there old enough.

I'm in the process of doing it. Same way you get Skylines, RHD ek9 civics, etc etc in with registration. Its alot of time and money for Carb Exemption especially since they are cracking down. And the number of allowed carb exempt vehicles are going down. Keep in mind especially that some hybrids are carb exempt vehicles.

I'm trying to chase that "exempt?" question down. There's no annual renewal for Historicals as I understand it, so I'm not sure how'd they administer smog on them. No way to tell if they were "expired," and smog cert is all tied into renewal from an enforcement perspective.

There's no fixed mileage cap anywhere in the statue, either.. and again, if there's no renewal, no way to administer one, either. Still researching.

Saw several Z-cars at JCCS with historicals, but of course, they are older, too, for the most part.

Glen you should have asked the owners of the historical cars how they went about getting those plates.
